Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, passed away at Mumbaiās Breach Candy Hospital on October 9, 2024.
He was 86. Known for his transformative leadership, Tata had been in critical condition earlier in the day, and his death has left the nation in mourning.
Tataās influence extended far beyond the Tata Group, playing a key role in Indiaās industrial growth. He retired as chairman of Tata Sons in 2012 after steering the group to global prominence. Awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and Padma Vibhushan in 2008, Tataās legacy continues to inspire.
Born in 1937, Ratan Tata studied architecture at Cornell University and joined Tata Industries in 1962. He later became chairman in 1991, coinciding with Indiaās economic liberalization. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded into new industries and grew into a global powerhouse.
