The last few days have been cold here in Vienna - the kind of cold that makes May feel personally confused. Apparently that was my cue to work on cozy plaids.
This started as another prompt and turned into a textured slub yarn plaid collection with irregular, woven-look linework. Think heritage checks, farmstead rooms, equestrian corners, moody bedrooms, cottage kitchens, and the occasional fabric swatch pretending it has its life together.

A lace design had been sitting on my prompt list for ages, which may explain why I lost the plot a little with the Lace prompt for .

Last week was busy, and somewhere between “keep it simple” and “this should work as a blender,” I wandered off into a fairly demanding lace design. So yes, once again, simple turned out to be not especially simple for me. I’m accepting that I’ll be working through the Blender Bonanza prompts a bit more slowly and very much at my own pace.

Still, I’m really happy with how convincingly lace-like this one feels - from soft and delicate to moodier colorways with a bit more drama.

I’ve spent the last few months working with wood textures for a project, so for once this design came together pretty fast.

Before I head off for a long weekend in the garden - May 1 is a holiday here in Austria - here’s my pattern for prompt 9 of the Blender Bonanza challenge: woodgrain, or wood-inspired texture.

Prompt 8 for : Dots, Lines, or Stitches.

Staying with the muted palette of the last few prompts, I went with dots and stitch-like marks to build these petal-like flowers with a soft embroidered look and a gentle vintage feel. This one works especially well for nurseries, and it also looks surprisingly good on stationery, which was a very welcome bonus.

Apparently even a ticking stripe can become surprisingly social.

I wanted this one to stay classic and simple, but it still picked up a little extra interest through stepped twill bands and varied spacing. Slide 1 shows one of the more muted, elegant colorways. If you swipe to the end, there are also a few preppy, girly variations with pink and spring green. Slide 2 includes the design IDs for all the Blender Bonanza patterns used together there.

Well, this escalated quickly 🤭

Loose Ribbon Weave Trellis - a slightly overachieving take on the prompt, but I had far too much fun making it to be sorry. Part trellis, part woven ribbon, part geometric tangle with a wavy movement.

What began as a fairly innocent idea took a day to become this. So no, it’s not especially simple, but it could work as a blender, I think.

I’ve decided Monday still qualifies as weekend, which is how I ended up skipping prompt 3 and going straight to prompt 4 - textural boho geometric.

Not entirely sure how boho this really is, I was mainly after that balance between structure and looseness - somewhere between geometric structure and relaxed texture - which is usually where I like things best anyway.

Weekend mood: proving once again that there is, in fact, no such thing as too many stripes! 😅

More colorways from my Cabana Stripe collection, because apparently one sensible version was never going to be enough. This round leans bolder and a bit more playful - still structured, still useful, just less interested in behaving quietly. 😇

Prompt 2 for : block print, single motif - which sounds very calm and restrained until you are the person trying to design it.

Simple is not actually my natural habitat, so this one took some discipline. I wanted the motif to feel hand-carved, a little imperfect, and easy to use as a blender or coordinate - something quiet, textured, and useful, but still with enough character to hold its own.

So this became a tossed berry sprig with a soft blockprint look, spaced out enough to breathe and subtle enough to play nicely with busier patterns. The kind of print that does the supporting work without making a theatrical speech about it.

More colorways will be uploaded in my shop next week.

A little late to , but clearly committed to showing my stripes.
This is my take on the first prompt: Stripe - kept simple enough to work as a blender or coordinate, but with just enough irregularity, texture, and edge detail to keep it from feeling flat. Basically, the reliable supporting actor with better styling.

I explored the design in a range of colorways, from soft neutrals to moodier contrasts and earthy olive tones, because stripes are apparently incapable of minding their own business once you let them evolve.
