We saw this post from the Australian Signals Directorate about legacy technology.
It raises an interesting question.
What is “legacy” in technology?
In everyday life, legacy is something valuable we leave behind.
In IT, legacy usually means something different —
old systems that are no longer supported or updated.
When software stops receiving security updates, it becomes a weak point.
Attackers know this, and they actively look for it.
At JTMi we often find businesses still running systems that were installed years ago and quietly forgotten. They still work… but they’re no longer safe.
So the real question isn’t just “What is legacy?”
It’s:
Is any of your technology already legacy?
