SharePoint - Primary document information resource for Government and the Private Sector
If you understand why the Header is true… read on.
Are we there yet? Well …. It just has to happen doesn’t it!
Enterprise Document Management (EDM) software is now essentially ‘white goods’. Microsoft has pressed on with improving SP such that it is now impossible to ignore, even if you have premium EDM products installed.
You know, I don’t see any serious competitors for Word, Excel etc .. like it or not .. so it will be with SP.
Our issue with platforms like SP is adoption. Bending SP to make it look like something useable for your organisation has always been expensive. The whole long-winded process of design, build and implementation has been high cost and slow. Been there done that .. it’s a frightening experience.
These traditional approaches have made a SP EDM next to impossible for (esp small) organisations to build and deploy well. And when SP is all wrong, money just wont fix it.
Solution? Ask yourself …
Q: When was the last time you sat down and configured Word or Excel to make it work better for your business?
A: Really?? – Never ! You’ve just accepted the look, feel and boundaries of the product.
Q: Why cant SP be like that?
A: You know I’m going to say it can. But are you ready for that? Can you accept a common framework that works for your class of business (LGs esp)
That’s how you get ‘plug and play’ and that is what we are offering.
It follows that for homogenous classes of businesses (e.g. Local Government - we’ve spent a lot of time there) that there is a point at which much of the business is actually the same. Yes, there are definitely points of differentiation between LG’s.
But it’s still 80/20. With 80% of the product in place, the remaining differences are simpler and easier to capture … job done.
If you’re an LG’er then you’re on the front foot as;
you probably already have O365 and SP costs are built in.
The latest SRO (WA) memo on SP describes our model; we were there before them.
Our model is 10 years tested.
Our product ‘Monarch’ is LG ready.. You can ‘Play in a Day’.
You get all the OOTB benefits of MS platform to platform / product integration.
Sharing common approaches isn’t a new idea. Isn’t this what we need?
