Not every NDIS provider goes through the same kind of audit.

A verification audit generally applies when a provider delivers only lower-risk or lower-complexity supports. It is completed by an approved quality auditor as a desktop review of the required documentary evidence.

A certification audit applies when a provider delivers one or more higher-risk or more complex supports. It has two stages: an off-site review of information and evidence, followed by an onsite assessment of how policies and procedures work in practice. That may include reviewing records, visiting sites, and interviewing staff and participants.

Importantly, providers do not simply choose the easier option. The NDIS Commission’s initial scope of audit and your registration groups determine which audit applies.

Travel time between clients is easy to overlook.

But under the SCHADS Award, it can be part of paid work time.

When a support worker finishes with one client and travels to another client during their shift, that travel time may need to be treated as work time. Fair Work gives an example where 30 minutes of travel between two clients is paid and does not break the shift.
