Lucienne Rickard will draw an extinct species every day for a year — but at the end there will hardly be anything left to show for her work.

Inside Story 4 - More on Resolution: For example, the 10 ppi image below left is blurry because there are only 10 pixels per inch in the photo. The middle image is an improvement at 20 ppi, but is still not a very good quality. The image on the right gives the greatest detail of the three at 72 ppi. These are online images…when a photograph goes to print in a brochure or other printed material, we need, as a minimum 300dpi.

Any questions on resolution out there??

FIRST PEOPLES
If you travel through New South Wales and Victorian Australian Alps National Parks, you are likely to see these First Peoples totems. The totems began with an idea and a seed of creativity in our studios and much collaboration with People in Nature and their consultative process. We are now proud to see them throughout the Alps landscape honouring the first people of this land.

IxD worked with People in Nature consultants and Australian Alps national parks to produce several concept designs which were presented and worked throug...

Inside Story 3: What is Resolution? This one seems to cause the most confusion amongst our valued clients and an explanation we would shout from the roof tops if we could! Not quite the weather for it today, so we will shout it here instead.

Digital images are composed of tiny dots called, pixels. Each pixel is a different color, so all the pixels put together form the details of the image.

The photo with this post is magnified to 1600% to show how the colored dots make up the details of the boy’s hair.

Resolution is the density of pixels as measured by “pixels per inch (ppi).” The more tightly-packed the pixels into each inch of space, the more detail (quality) there is in the image.

Inside Story : 2. What the is the difference between a Bitmap or Jpeg and a Vector file? Bottom line with this one is that one is editable the other is not! When you supply your graphic designer with your logo or graphic and would like to it be altered, he or she will be very happy when you supply it as a vector file ie. An AI or EPS or workable PDF

Michelle’s New Zealand trip
Michelle’s turn for the holiday inspiration this time..ok, so it was this time last year but a bit of awesome nature is always creatively inspiring. This place was incredible, a creek that flowed into the sea, a waterfall and a safe haven/kindergarten for baby seals!
