For a long time now, I’ve been bothered about not knowing what my signature style is. I’ve not classed myself as an artist because my life took some twists and turns; my black and white thinking labelled other people as true artists and I paled in comparison. My mind blocked me from seeing my worth, a common story for many people, however I’m documenting my journey and recovery from false thoughts perceived as real.

This scribbly style and etched texture is one I used to do frequently when I was a young aspiring artist. Back then, I didn’t see how extremely comfortable it was for me to do; nor how it offers me a way to be in flow with my thoughts and intentions, all the while allowing me to feel into the forms I am drawing. It also allows me to add layers to detail if I like, which is an enjoyable way for me to communicate the many ideas I have when I’m in an ADHD hyperfocus. I have found “Claybord” made by a company called Ampersand. It is amazing to work with using my style and I’m ever so grateful for the helpful staff who work at the Art Shed in Brisbane for introducing me to it and listening to my needs. I’m inspired again and back working in my studio.
