Before Hailo, there was a question: what happens when someone still can’t get on the bus, even when all the ‘right’ infrastructure is in place?
Our co-founder, Santiago Velasquez, explores that question in his TEDxBrisbane talk, and it’s the same question that drives everything we build. 🚌💚
We tend to think accessible public transport means ramps, wheelchair spaces, tactile signage and accessible vehicles.
Those things are essential.
But what happens when someone still can’t get on the bus?
Drawing on his lived experience as a blind traveller and his work as an electrical engineer and inventor, Santiago Velasquez asks us to look beyond individual pieces of infrastructure and consider whether the whole transport system actually works for the people it is meant to serve.
We were honoured to welcome Santiago into the TEDxBrisbane red circle to share this important idea.
The missing link in accessible transport is now live.
