YO&O is a psychology-first brand strategy and design studio, for the people building something that matters. We’re Your One and Only – a psychology-driven brand strategy and design studio creating brands for the sectors reshaping society. We design for tomorrow’s culture, combining behavioural psychology with cultural intelligence to create brands that feel inevitable to the people who matter most

. We work with changemakers at the intersection of health, equity and impact – from women’s health innovators and wellness tech pioneers, to neurodivergent inclusion advocates, conscious DTC founders, and nonprofits driving systemic change. Because the world doesn’t need more “pretty branding.” It needs brands that dismantle bias, design belonging, and open doors for progressive change.

Nobody’s having a crackat performance marketing. It works, it’s measurable, and if you switched it off tomorrow you’d feel it by next week.
The trouble is what it gets compared against. Brand can’t produce a number by the end of the month, so it looks like the thing that costs money and returns nothing. It’s not failing. It’s being marked with the wrong test.
It’s the classic instant gratification trap.
Ehrenberg-Bass put it at roughly 5% of B2B buyers being in-market at any given time, because most businesses only change providers every few years. And, in consumer categories it lands slightly different but points the same way.
Most of your buyers are light buyers who purchase once or twice a year, not regulars.
Different numbers, same conclusion. The majority of people who’ll ever buy from you aren’t buying this week, so most of what you put out is either being remembered or it’s being wasted.
And it’s never 1 thing anyway. Marathon training has sprints in it. You run both because they do different jobs, and pulling one out to see if it was the problem tells you a whole lot of nothing.
Everyone’s running a tap, and not many are filling the tank.
The Brand Container™ shows you what’s in your tank.
Comment or DM CONTAINER and we’ll send it to you.
If you prefer an indepth breakdown... I (Tara) broke it down in this week’s podcast episode (ep 113). It also includes the 6 things you can actually measure brand on too.

Part 1 was the phone call. This is the reason.

Ari was 3 weeks old when we found out, and 9 months old when he had the transplant. 37 (now 41) admissions over the 3 years after that, and you learn a hospital the way you learn a house you didn’t choose to live in.

Ronald McDonald House Charities were the part of it that had nothing to do with medicine. A toy cart, snacks, something for the sibling. Small things that make a terrible day slightly less terrible, and there’s no way to explain how much that matters until you’ve needed it.

Our team is at currently at $26,824 and sitting in 4th place on the leaderboard, which is pretty mad when you look at who else is up there.

We aren’t a big corporate business.
We’re a team of 8 gym mates who have had a kid (or know of some) in their life affected by sickness, injury or disability.

No corporate sponsors.

The largest amount anyone’s given us is $1,000, from small businesses who didn’t have to (including some of our own).

Which means nearly all of it has come from everyday people chipping in. Seriously, how good is that??

12 hours, this Friday, across the team. Link in the bio if you’re able to.

Sam signed us up before she called me (which tells you everything about how decisions get made around here).

So on Friday 4 September we’re riding 12 hours (with our team) for Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, 20(ish) minutes at a time, morning to night.

The short version of why… is that my (Tara) son Ari was diagnosed at 3 weeks old with a chronic liver disease called Biliary Atresia. And, at 9 months old required a liver transplant (in the middle of the first lockdown).

We were in and out of hospital 37 times over the 3 years after that. He’s 7 now and he’s fine, which is not a sentence I ever assumed I’d get to write.

RMHC supported us via the toy cart coming down the corridor, the parent snacks when you haven’t eaten for hours, the thing for the sibling who’s been sitting in a plastic chair or bouncing between parents until the family reunites again.

All of these small things is what can make a day survivable, which is a strange thing to try and explain to people who haven’t been in it.

There’s a longer version of this and it’s the reason we work the way we do.

But that’s in part 2.

For now, follow along as we show you BTS of the event. And if you have something to spare, please help us by donating via the link in our bio ❤️

Pretty brands are collapsing, and the branding is getting the blame.

It’s the only layer anyone can see. So it’s the only one that gets worked on… and the only one that cops it when nothing moves.

There are 5.
4 of them are behaviour.
Why people buy.
Why they come back.
What they say about you when you’re not in the room.

That’s the work nobody hands to anyone.
We can show you which of the 5 you’re missing.

Comment CONTAINER and we’ll send it over.

And yes, we’re exactly like this. Makes the creative process fun.

11/08/2026

We constantly update how we run our internal processes. And we’ll be first to say we haven’t always got it right.

But a few years back I (Tara) realised this approach was shortcutting the time in our process for a bucketload of vital insight.

Most, if not all, of our best brand thinking has come out of a sidebar. The ones that would’ve been edited out by the client had we asked for a list of questions for them to answer.

Instead, we let the conversation run freely, guide it in the right direction, and almost ALWAYS find a core differentiation point.

While everyone is quick to streamline, it’s important we don’t override the areas that make the magic.

There’s a time and a place for a call out. We get it, but to consistently use a shame based approach is, quite frankly, ick.

We’ve been watching this pattern for a few years now and we think it’s sad. We know how buying motivation works, we use it, and there’s still a line. Especially right now, when things feel fragile for a lot of people.

Nobody’s audience is a room full of people who need to be schooled. They’re people having a hard year, doing their best with what they can actually see from where they’re standing.

We’d rather lift than pull the rug.

And yes, we’re quietly judging the people who do it.
So is everyone else.

That’s leaving a brand impression too, by the way. Most just don’t pick it up.

07/08/2026

You find out when you try to sell something else.

Either they come with you or they don’t… that tells you what you actually built.

Episode’s in the bio.

05/08/2026

Loyalty has shifted.
People aren’t loyal to what you sell anymore.
They’re loyal to what you stand for.

And most brands couldn’t tell you what associations they actually hold in the market or how they’re being perceived vs. what they intended.

That’s the gap, and it sits underneath the logo.

So, over the next few weeks I’m going to break it down layer by layer. If you want to get ahead comment CONTAINER or DM us the word.
