Hexicor Legends: celebrating 21 years with Dan Joy.

A chance meeting on a golf course 21 years ago brought Dan into the business. After bumping into former colleague Greg, Dan was invited in to interview for the newly launching TBS programme and was offered the role on the spot.

Since then, Dan has seen technology transform from physical voicemail cards in PABX systems to today’s world of cloud-hosted software, subscription services and AI.

Now as National Sales Manager, Dan leads teams across Australia and says the real reward comes from the challenges and wins that come with supporting people, and helping clients improve how they operate day to day.

A personal highlight? An incentive trip to the Monaco Grand Prix in 2018, a story he is always happy to recount.

Outside of work, Dan has recently become a grandfather for the first time. When he is not with family, he is usually mastering live fire cooking on his Kamado Joe - always chasing the perfect steak (reverse-seared bone-in rib-eye is a favourite), with the Adelaide team also benefiting from his beef jerky experiments.

It is not often you find someone who has successfully mastered both the technical workshop and the corporate accounts desk, but Lauren McDermott has done exactly that. This October, Lauren celebrates a phenomenal 22 years with the business, marking over two decades of incredible versatility and dedication.

Lauren first joined the company when it was known as GSoft Computers. A friend mentioned the workshop needed staff, so she came in for a trial day, landed the job, and began a journey that would span multiple company evolutions, from GSoft to Calibre One, and now Hexicor.

Over the past 22 years, Lauren has worn an impressive variety of hats. She started on the tools as a workshop technician, before moving into roles as a frontline technician and a direct support engineer. Her leadership skills quickly led to a promotion as the support team leader. After returning from maternity leave, Lauren transitioned into coordination and process management, before making a successful shift into the finance department. Today, she serves as our trusted Accounts Payable and Payroll Administrator for Hexicor.

What has kept Lauren dedicated through so many major changes? For her, the answer is simple: the people and the fantastic opportunity to grow through diverse roles without ever having to leave the company family.

Outside the office, Lauren is happiest when she is completely off the grid, exploring Australia in a camper trailer and going 4 Wheel Driving with her husband and two children. Back home, life remains beautifully busy. Her kids' rugby and BMX schedules keep her on the move, and Lauren loves being an active part of these local sporting communities, always volunteering her time.
