DEFINING THE DESIGN PROBLEM⬇️
Rebranding Pedigree Paper was a university assignment that turned into a fun, skill building exercise for me.
One of the biggest challenges in this brief was defining the problem. Pedigree paper already had a strong branding when I begun, so at first glance I was thinking where can I go from here?
So how do you define the design problem?
👉🏽Research, Research, Research - What is the brand? What do they have to offer? What are their values, mission and goals etc?
👉🏽Look at competitors- What is unique about this brand that you can potentially play up on? What gaps for opportunity are their in the current market?
👉🏽Empathise with the audience- who would purchase from this brand and why? What kind of personality do these people have? What do they see, hear, feel and think of this brand?
👉🏽Write one succinct statement that clearly defines the problem, audience, need, vision and the common message.
For this project I concluded that, as Pedigree Paper needed a new stand alone identity that reflects the opportunity for creative freedom and quality products, while remaining approachable to diverse target audience.
