Spot the mistake 😅😅

A missing solder connection.... Don't worry .. I fixed it 😄

Exciting update....
My custom 5e3/ga5 build fired up without issue and most importantly of all.... Sounds f@$king amazing!!!
I'm always super critical of my builds and will spend hours trying to fine tune an amp till I am happy....
I was blown away.... Literally, because this is one loud amp if you crank up the volume!!
Crystal cleans with 2nd order harmonics that almost feel as though there is an effects pedal hidden somewhere and then using only the volume control on your guitar, it is rock n roll heaven.
It was a moment I was so proud of as an amp builder/designer, the whole concept of doing this was a crazy idea I had, and I executed it perfectly.

A final check of all the wiring, connections, grounding and this build will be ready for its first power up!

One of the more time consuming parts of the build process... The design of the circuit and turret board layout.
At times it can absolutely be a tedious process but it's always rewarding when it all comes together.
To me this isn't just about building an amp.... It's art.

Sometimes I will take my time focusing on a tiny detail... Like a screen resistor.... This amp will be using kt66 valves, which normally use a 470r resistor.... But seeing I'm building this with the ability to use different tubes - and also because I want that sweet blues tone... I went with a 5w 1k resistor.... This will give the screen of the kt66 a little more sag and compression... Which I love... Also if I ever swap in an el34 or 6ca7.... It will do it with reliability in mind....

Hi everyone I'm pleased to announce that I am more than happy with this tweed amp build and am now offering it for sale!
Designed and built by myself right here in Mollymook beach NSW Australia!
The basic circuit has the DNA of a classic Fender tweed Princeton with a 5e3 tone control which adds a much needed versatility to the 1950s 5f1 champ...
Let's go over some details and specs to see if this amp would suit you as a player...
The oversized cab is hand built from pine with the traditional finger joints as they were in the 1950s.... A classic real tweed covering along with 10 coats of shellac to not only give the aged appearance of a real vintage amp but also to protect from knocks or scratches...
The speaker is a UK made celestion g12m65 creamback.... I didn't hold back.... They are a fantastic speaker with a warm midrange - however a different speaker can be installed on request.
The insides.... This is where things get interesting and a little geeky.... It retains the basic structure of a single ended tweed amp but I adopted a dumble inspired blues master preamp.... This design is something I worked on for quite some time and when the volume is low the cleans have an abundance of second order harmonics that almost make it sound like a second guitar is also being played slightly out of phase for a really lush tone....
Crank up the volume and it's a fantastic blues tube driven overdrive which I personally love with a single coil guitar... Plug a humbucker in and it will do all the classic crunch tones you'd ever want....
There is no FX loop but the amp will take pedals in front extremely well!
The transformers were hand built in the UK to vintage specs and I used only the most high end components - Jupiter caps, takman resistors and a couple of sozo tone controls caps (I really like these).
The amp produces 5watts of power but don't let this fool you.... This is a LOUD 5 Watts - yet not loud enough to upset the neighbours.
I estimate around 100 hours of labour and engineering building and fine tuning this amp into what it is...
The valves are a 5y3s rectifier, 6v6s power tube and a single 7025 in the preamp....
As with all my amps there are several custom switching options I have added.
I'm offering this amp at $2200 so please feel free to reach out if you are interested.
