Completed repairs and cleanup on a residential Dahua CCTV system over the weekend

Work included:

• Replaced a faulty camera
• Installing weather-protected waterproof joins
• Cleaning and factory reset of all cameras
• Restoring remote viewing on phones and laptop
• General system testing and configuration cleanup

A lot of CCTV faults come from moisture exposure, failed joins, or older remote-viewing/network settings rather than the entire system needing replacement.

Most businesses don’t realise how much time is lost dealing with messy or broken systems.

Lately I’ve been working on a project where I built an automated process to take raw, messy text data and turn it into structured, usable information.

Why does that matter?

Because it’s the same problem I see every day with CCTV and IT systems:

I’ve worked on CCTV systems in high-security environments like prisons and police sites.

In those environments:
✔ Systems can’t afford to drop out
✔ Faults need to be diagnosed properly — not guessed
✔ Everything runs across structured networks and monitored systems

That same approach carries over into the work I do for local businesses.

If your cameras are unreliable, dropping out, or not recording properly there is usually a real reason behind it.

I focus on finding and fixing the actual problem, not just swapping parts and hoping for the best.

🖨️ Printer not printing? Try this before calling anyone

1. Check the default printer & make sure your computer is actually sending the job to the right device

2. Clear stuck print jobs - Open print queue → cancel everything → restart the printer

3. Restart spooler (Windows button + S) Search “Services” → restart “Print Spooler”

4. Check connection If it’s networked, make sure it’s still connected to either the WiFi correctly or the Ethernet cable.

5. Turn everything off and back on Printer + PC + router (yes, that actually works)

If it is still playing up after that it is usually something deeper, happy to take a look 👍
