PROJECT SHOWCASE | Blak Voices in Business

Over the past 2 months, we’ve had the privilege of delivering Blak Voices in Business — a marketing initiative designed to support Aboriginal businesses across regional NSW to better tell their stories, strengthen their brands and build their marketing capability.

Funded by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, this project took us on a 5,000+ kilometre journey across regional NSW, connecting with 17 incredible Aboriginal businesses across 9 Traditional Lands and 14 regional communities in just 22 days!

Through our Head Heart Hands Indigenous Business Pathway, we worked alongside Aboriginal business owners to help them articulate the unique context, heart and purpose behind their businesses, and translate that into meaningful, story-driven marketing.

We have delivered:
✨ 4 Brand Story & Marketing Workshops
🎥 17 Brand Story Videos for each business
📸 17 Professional Brand Photoshoots for each business
🤝 Ongoing mentoring and support for participating businesses

From bushfoods, beverages and cultural tourism to creative industries, agriculture and professional services, every business brings its own unique story, vision and contribution to the world.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was witnessing the impact of storytelling first-hand, in real time, as we all shared our journeys, lifted each other up and created opportunities for collaboration and partnership. It was such a powerful example of how when Aboriginal entrepreneurs are supported to clearly communicate who they are, why they exist and the impact they create, they are equipped and empowered to use their business to generate positive outcomes for mob, protect Country, celebrate and share culture, and create opportunities for future generations.

We are incredibly grateful to for investing in Aboriginal businesses and to every business owner who trusted us to be part of their journey.

NRW 2026 🖤💛❤️

Last week we were thrilled to have the opportunity to travel to Naarm on beautiful Wurundjeri Country to attend the launch of the Settlement Council of Australia’s first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and their National Reconciliation Roadshow that will travel across every state and territory over the coming year.

Indigico Creative was honoured to not only create SCOA’s RAP artwork - ‘Many Stories, One Home’, created by Indigico Creative founder and Managing Director, - but also to design the full RAP document, helping visually communicate SCOA’s vision for reconciliation, truth-telling and belonging.

At the heart of the artwork is the idea that reconciliation is not a destination, but an ongoing, iterative journey of partnership and learning to build strong relationships between truth and action, between people and Country, and between the many diverse stories that shape Australia.

During the launch event, Amy spoke about how Reconciliation requires an alignment between what we know, what we value and how we act - a concept that has been built in Indigico’s flagship cultural learning framework called the Head Heart Hands Pathway:
• Head (knowing) — seeking truth and understanding
• Heart (being) — truth-listening with openness, self-reflection, vulnerability and humility
• Hands — taking intentional and meaningful action in everyday spaces, conversations and collaborations

Meaningful reconciliation cannot exist without aligning all three - because action without understanding is performative; understanding without action is passive; and values without action and understanding are just empty words.

This National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, we’re proud to see the Guwaabal artwork, created by our Founder + Managing Director , installed across multiple sites in Sydney as part of a public art installation curated by .io .

Guwaabal means “stories” in the Gamilaraay language and reflects a simple but powerful truth: our stories matter. They are carried by the people who raise us, the communities we belong to, the Country we walk on, the journeys we take and the dreams we hold for the future. Every experience becomes part of a larger story that connects us to one another, to those who came before us and those who carry forward the legacies we leave behind.

At Indigico, we believe storytelling has the power to transform mindsets, unite communities and inspire authentic and impactful action. Reconciliation itself is only possible through sharing our stories—truthfully telling them, deeply listening to them, respecting them and allowing ourselves to be meaningfully transformed by them.

Public art creates opportunities for these stories to be encountered in everyday spaces. It invites people to pause, reflect and consider the stories that have shaped our shared past and the stories we want to create together for the future.

A heartfelt thank you to Future Art for bringing this installation to life and creating space for First Nations stories to be seen and celebrated in the heart of Sydney.

We are honoured to have partnered once again on the Close the Gap Campaign Report — marking our second year contributing to this important national publication.

This year’s report, ‘Community Voices: The Pathway to Justice, Equality and Healing’, centres what matters most — the strength, leadership and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Indigico Creative had the privilege of:
• Designing the full report
• Creating custom illustrated theme icons
• Supplying the cover image

This work is more than design, it is about storytelling with purpose - ensuring that the visual language honours culture, amplifies voices, and supports the integrity of the message being shared.

We are grateful to be able to contribute to, collaborate with, and support the Close the Gap Campaign, because it’s not just about reporting on outcomes — it’s about shifting power, embedding truth, and supporting pathways toward justice, equality and healing.

The very first project for 2026 was one that connected deeply with our hearts. 🐾✨

This special commissioned painting by our Founder + Managing Director, , is a portrait of a much-loved family dog, Macho — a handsome Puggle (Beagle X Pug) — told through Aboriginal art to honour his story, spirit and legacy.

As a business run by proud fur-parents of 2 dogs (who are absolutely more like children than pets), we immediately felt the weight and privilege of this piece. Some stories aren’t just painted — they are held, felt and carried with deep care.

Macho’s journey was extraordinary. Rescued from unimaginable cruelty, he went on to become a gentle, calming presence not only for his family, but for an entire community. Birds, cats, children and even reactive dogs were drawn to his peaceful spirit. He taught those around him about patience, trust, forgiveness and the true meaning of family.

Creating this work — Amy’s largest painting to date (acrylic on 30 x 40 inch canvas) — was both an honour and a responsibility. In January, we had the privilege of hand-delivering the finished piece to Macho’s family in Sydney on our way to the Sunshine Coast. Moments like that are why we do what we do.

Through Indigenous storytelling, this artwork captures not just how Macho looked, but who he was — gentle, wise, and deeply loved.

Thank you to Macho’s family for trusting us with such a sacred story. 🤍
