If you see a post or message saying you've won a $250 or $500 Bunnings Gift Card, take a second before you click.

Scammers know we all love a bargain, and they use well-known Australian brands to trick people into giving away their personal information or bank details.

Here are a few red flags:
❌ "You've won" something you never entered.
❌ You're asked to pay a small shipping or processing fee.
❌ The website address looks strange or isn't the official one.
❌ They create urgency: "Offer expires today!"

Remember: If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

A few seconds of caution can save you from losing your money—or even your identity.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Fake ATO Emails

Tax time is one of the busiest seasons for scammers in Australia.
Criminals know people are expecting emails about tax returns, refunds or outstanding payments, so they send messages that look like they're from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

Watch out for emails or text messages that:
🔹 Tell you that you're getting a tax refund and ask you to click a link.
🔹 Say you owe money and must pay immediately.
🔹 Ask you to confirm your bank details or login information.
🔹 Create a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting quickly.

Before clicking any link, ask yourself:
✔️ Was I expecting this email?
✔️ Does the sender's email address look legitimate?
✔️ Is the message asking for personal or banking information?

If you're unsure, don't click the link. Instead, log in to your myGov account directly or visit the official ATO website.

A few seconds of caution could save you from losing your personal information—or your money.
