"Why don't you post on Facebook any more?"
I have been asked this question a lot in recent months. I used to post my Sunday Seið articles here on my Stark Raven Runes page, and in various Norse pagan groups, every week.
Then I noticed my posts being copied and shared. Photos attached to my posts had my name removed, words filled with meaning and posts carefully constructed were shared without credit, some even claiming they had written the articles themselves!
Images I had created using Canva's digital art tools and my own photos (and the paid photos available on Canva), were being taken and manipulated. This is why I no longer post on The Aussie Völva page, as people went to great lengths to remove my tag and share my work without permission.
I found myself witnessing the theft of my intellectual property over and over again. I don't mind my words being shared, they are meant to be absorbed and reach the hearts and minds of many. But they are MY words, from my own experiences and teachings, some articles taking days, weeks or even months to formulate into coherent structure, stemming from decades of study, experience, mistakes and learning. Spirit journeys carefully taken from experience to literary form, words arriving as the mouthpiece for what can not truly be understood, and yet I tried.
Then it happened. A post on Instagram was flagged as AI content. Nothing I did changed the flag. I was accused of using AI to generate my writing, and it cut me deep. I have never, and will never, use AI to generate my words. I am deeply passionate about words coming from the minds, hearts and souls of the humans who live the moments and feel the emotions we express.
Stealing my work was one thing. Having it stripped from me completely and labelled as Artificial Intelligence was devastating. I realised that in this world of fake imagery, hallucinated ramblings and absolute bu****it lies, I needed to protect and preserve my integrity (and my sanity).
I still write. I still share my experiences and teachings, some personal, some academic, some a blend of all parts of the lived human experience. I still offer them to the world freely and with love.
But not here.
Never here.
If you care enough about authors and teachers and the power of words that come from actual humans, please subscribe to my Substack. The app is free, my articles will always be free, and they will always be free from AI.

As we are now faced with Meta's new regulations around AI, many creators of art are faced with a dilemma. Do we stay? Or do we go? I, amongst many, are fearful of what this change means. Our words, our art, our experiences used without permission to feed the AI mastermind (which, by the way, is notoriously delirious and constantly hallucinates in ways that cause real harm). Our real lives stripped to false representations, false accusations, false narratives.
I do not give permission for ANY content of mine to be used by AI to train the system. I do what I can to minimise my impact on the global destruction caused by AI data centres (try using Ecosia instead of Google - a free search engine). As Google decimates entire forests in Finland to build new infrastructure, as AI centres waste millions of litres of water for evaporative cooling every single day, and as the lines between real intelligence and artificial intelligence are blurred more and more, I am caught in the reality of losing my connections and community here forever.
To that end, please continue to engage with me on Substack. I will be sending out email newsletters so that we can stay in touch until whatever this dystopian, social media hellscape transforms into is safe enough to engage with, or dies completely. I will try to reinvigorate my Bluesky profile, however, the time and energy to garner a whole new community feels overwhelmingly hopeless.

I am not leaving yet, as the fear of losing connection, and my livelihood, is very real. But I am balancing on the edge of a knife's increasingly precarious blade, and it hurts.
