Converting IPv4 Decimal to Binary :

Understanding decimal-to-binary conversion is a fundamental CCNA networking skill. Every IPv4 address consists of 4 octets, and each octet is 8 bits long.

Binary Place Values:
128 | 64 | 32 | 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1

Example: Convert 168 to Binary

• 168 ≥ 128 → 1 (Remaining: 40)
• 40 < 64 → 0
• 40 ≥ 32 → 1 (Remaining: 8)
• 8 < 16 → 0
• 8 ≥ 8 → 1 (Remaining: 0)
• Remaining positions → 000
✅ 168 = 10101000

So, the IP address:
192.168.10.10

becomes:
11000000.10101000.00001010.00001010

💡 CCNA Tip:
