তাৎক্ষণিক যোগাযোগ আর ভিডিও চ্যাটের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় মাধ্যম মাইক্রোসফটের স্কাইপে। যারা নিয়মিত স্কাইপে ব্যবহার করেন, নিশ্চয় বেশ কিছু দিন ধরে একটি বিষয় লক্ষ্য করছেন, তা হলো স্কাইপের বারংবার আপডেটের নোটিশ।


তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি বিষয়ক বিভিন্ন সেবা মাধ্যম তাদের সিস্টেম, সফটওয়্যার হালনাগাদ সম্পর্কে গ্রাহককে আপডেটের খবর জানিয়ে থাকে, এমনটি ভেবে যারা এই নোটিশকে অগ্রাহ্য করছেন তাদের জন্য কিন্তু দু:সংবাদ।

কারণ আগামী ০১ মার্চ থেকে বন্ধ করে দেয়া হচ্ছে স্কাইপের সব পুরনো সংস্করণ। এর পর থেকে শুধু হালনাগাদকৃত বা লেটেস্ট ভার্সন থেকেই ব্যবহার করা যাবে স্কাইপে।

অর্থাৎ আপনি যদি ১লা মার্চের আগে আপনার স্কাইপেটি নতুন সংস্করণে নিয়ে না যান তাহলে আপনি তাতে আর লগইন-ই করতে পারবেন না।

এক ব্লগ পোষ্টের মাধ্যমে মাইক্রোসফট জানিয়েছে, স্কাইপেকে তার পুরনো পিয়ার-টু-পিয়ার টেকনোলজি থেকে নতুন মোবাইল বান্ধব ক্লাউড প্রযুক্তিতে রুপান্তর করা হচ্ছে। নতুন প্রযুক্তিতে ব্যবহারকারীরা নতুন অনেক ফিচার উপভোগ করতে পারবেন। এছাড়া মোবাইলে গ্রুপ ভিডিও চ্যাটিং এবং ক্লাউডের মাধ্যমে ফাইল স্থানান্তরের সুবিধা থাকছে।

তাই স্কাইপের পুরনো ভার্সন ব্যবহারকারীদের ০১ মার্চের আগেই আপডেট করে নেয়ার কথা জানিয়েছে স্কাইপে।
