A little throwback to a branding project I worked on before Avansta, during my time with Go Digital Sask.

Fixr's Salon & Studio came to us looking to build a visual identity that felt modern, clean, professional, and a little more premium.

The interesting part?

Their existing logo had been created using a Canva template, and a local competitor was using the exact same template. 😅

Not exactly ideal when you're trying to build a brand people can recognize.

We redesigned the logo with cleaner lines, modern typography, and a simpler overall look, giving Fixr's an identity that felt much more distinct and intentional.

We also introduced a deep blue colour palette to give the brand a sophisticated, modern feel while keeping it clean and professional.

The result was a brand that felt more like Fixr's, rather than something that could have belonged to any business using the same Canva template.

👀 Quick question… can your customers actually find your business on Google?

Not just when they search your exact business name.

I mean when they search for the product or service you offer.

Because you can have an amazing business, a great website, and happy customers… but if Google can’t figure out who you are, what you do, or where you operate, you could be missing out on people actively looking for what you sell.

So we put together The “Can Customers Find Me on Google?” Checklist to help you quickly check some of the most important pieces of your Google presence.

Start with the basics. Make sure Google knows who you are, what you do, where you’re located, and why customers should choose you. Then build from there.

Save this checklist and work through it for your business!

Your accounting website should help you look professional… not like you built it during tax season.

For this accounting & finance website, we wanted to create something that felt professional, trustworthy, modern, and easy to navigate while making it simple for potential clients to understand the services available and take the next step.

Here are some of the key features we focused on:
✅ Modern Design — A polished look that reflects professionalism and builds trust.
✅ Responsive Design — A seamless experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
✅ Service Pages — Clear pages explaining the accounting and financial services offered.
✅ About the Firm — Introduces the team, story, and experience behind the business.
✅ Resources & FAQs — Helpful information that answers common client questions.
✅ Lead Generation — Clear CTAs and contact forms make it easy to get in touch.
✅ Location & Service Areas — Clearly communicates where the business operates.
✅ SEO Foundation — Built with search visibility in mind from the start.

A great accounting & finance website should do more than look professional.

It should build trust, explain your services clearly, answer questions, and make it easy for potential clients to take the next step.

Your website is often the first conversation someone has with your business.

In August 2026, Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion as part of a major settlement with U.S. states over claims involving the safety of young users on Facebook and Instagram.

The agreement introduces strict default safety rules for teens, including:
✅ 2-hour daily time limit across Facebook and Instagram
✅ Midnight–6 AM access block by default
✅ Muted notifications during school hours
✅ 15-minute usage prompts to encourage breaks

These measures are set to remain in place for 10 years in participating U.S. states and territories.

And there's a bigger marketing lesson here: The platforms we build our marketing on aren't static.

Algorithms change. Privacy rules change. Ad products change. User behaviour changes. And now we're seeing major changes to how young people can use some of the world's biggest social platforms.

🤔 What do you think? Is this the right direction for protecting young users, or do you think platforms are going too far?

Your first client might not be your biggest client.

It might not even be your most profitable project.

But that first “yes” hits different.

Every business owner remembers their first client.

When D May Mechanical first got started, the original logo was designed using ChatGPT as a quick way to get the business up and running.

But as the business grew, it was time to give the brand a more professional identity built for where the company is headed.

That's where we came in.

The goal was simple: Make it bold. Make it professional. Make it memorable.

We created a custom wordmark that puts the business name front and centre, while turning the “D” into a standalone icon that can be used across different applications.

The yellow and black colour combination gives the brand a strong visual contrast and makes it easy to spot, whether it's on a website, social media, business card, vehicle, or job site.

Next up, we're building out the rest of D May Mechanical's online presence, from the website and Google presence to the rest of the digital branding.

We're excited to show you what comes next.

Got a service page on your website? Cool. But does it actually make people want to buy?

A service page isn't just a place to explain what your business does.

It should help potential customers understand your service, build trust, and take the next step.

So let's break down the Anatomy of a Service Page and look at 5 important elements:

1️⃣ Clear Service Headline — Tell visitors exactly what service you're offering and who it's for.

2️⃣ Clear Call-to-Action — Make it obvious what visitors should do next: Call, Book, Request a Quote, Get Started, or Contact You.

3️⃣ Feature Highlights — Showcase the key features, benefits, or details that make the service valuable.

4️⃣ Proof & Results — Use testimonials, reviews, case studies, credentials, or examples to build credibility.

5️⃣ What You Offer — Clearly outline what's included so potential customers know what they're getting.

Your service page shouldn't just describe your service. It should sell the next step. It needs to answer the questions your customers are already asking while making it as easy as possible to take action.

Save this post and use it as a quick checklist the next time you're reviewing your service pages.

Sometimes, all your brand needs is a really good smile 😄

For this e-commerce brand, we wanted to create an identity that felt fun, memorable, and full of personality right from the start.

We built the colour palette around a bright yellow and rich brown, giving the brand a playful look while still creating enough contrast to keep everything feeling polished and recognizable.

Then we added the smiling face as the primary icon. Simple? Yes. Forgettable? Definitely not.

The typography helped bring the whole thing together, using the unique ITC Willow font to give the brand an extra layer of character and make it feel even more distinctive.

The goal was to create something that could stand out across a website, packaging, social media, digital ads, and all the little customer touchpoints that make an e-commerce brand memorable.

Good Golf and Callaway recently learned just how quickly a marketing campaign can go wrong.

The two brands collaborated on a promotional video for a co-branded Callaway Quantum driver.

The concept was supposed to be a parody of the horror movie Obsession.

In the ad, Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark is shown aggressively shoving fellow creator Alexis Miestowski to the ground after she reaches for his golf club.

His response?

“Do not touch my new driver.”

The problem was pretty obvious. What may have been intended as a funny, exaggerated skit was widely interpreted as making light of violence against women.

The backlash was immediate.

The video was deleted, but that didn't stop it from spreading. Clips continued circulating across social media, and criticism quickly shifted from the ad itself to questions about how both Good Good and Callaway could have approved and published it in the first place.

And then came the fallout.
❌ Callaway ended its three-year partnership with Good Good.
❌ Good Good withdrew as title sponsor of an upcoming PGA Tour event.
❌ Major retailers, including Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy, pulled Good Good merchandise.
❌ Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick and President Joe Flannery later left the company.

That's a pretty high price to pay for one advertisement.

Perhaps the biggest lesson is that creative teams need to think beyond the initial reaction.

Before publishing a campaign, ask:
✅ How could this be interpreted outside of the context we intended?
✅ Does the joke actually support the brand?
✅ What happens if this gets shared without the original context?

You can delete the post. You can apologize. You can explain what you meant. But screenshots, clips, and reactions can live online long after the original campaign disappears.

🤔 What do you think was the biggest mistake here: the creative concept, the approval process, or how the brands handled the backlash?
