Great way to treat mom on Mother’s Day🎶
An evening of music presented by 💕
Mimi O’Bonsawin is a contemporary roots singer-songwriter from Northeastern Ontario, French Canadian & W8banaki (Abénaki), and a proud member of the Odanak First Nation. Her rhythm- and story-driven songs celebrate the beauty of the land, with ethereal melodies, introspective lyrics, and acoustic instrumentation that make you feel the music, not just hear it.
A musician and gardener, Mimi says: “Making music and growing food are very much the same. They both start with a seed and, with proper care, can grow into a beautiful garden that we all can share. I put intention and love into every seed and every note.” 🌱🎵
2025 has been a remarkable year for Mimi — awarded Solo Artist of the Year at the Trille Or Awards, touring Australia at the Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals, and performing across Canada at festivals including Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, Francos de Montréal, and Festival en Chanson Petite-Vallée. She also appeared on the nationally aired TV series Le Grand-Solstice by Elisapie.
Mimi performs as a duo with her husband, Ryan Schurman, on drums and percussion, creating an intimate yet uplifting experience. Together, they deliver a full-band sound that inspires dancing, singing, and joy.
