Hey students, I wanna emphasize having a growth mindset.
When I was up until Grade 10, I hadn't studied ever without being forced to.
I thought people like studying, or they just get it. I thought I had a short term attention span, or that I wouldn't remember what I learned. Going to classes wasn't helping because I no longer understood anything.
You gotta try. At first I was wondering if it's even possible to get all B's given the amount of time I had. Luckily I couldn't get an answer to that - so I went for it.
The thing is, you gotta start with easy things. If you're planning to get built - you're gonna start with smaller weights right?
And guess what, if you see rapid big gains, you will want to go back the next day.
So imagine you're failing, maybe don't even know math since the past 3 grades. But the wheels start turning. Something that wouldn't have made sense, now partially does.
You really believe that effort will lead to reward/good grades.
Then you'll put in the effort.
I wasn't always good at Math, or most courses for that matter. But I knew that it's important. And I can do more work than others are doing and get better results. The people with my scores were much more smarter than me - I would just spend an enormous amount of time studying.
It's a skill/muscle. You've seen people studying at the library in the silent study for a 4 - 6 hour session right.
The reason they can do that, is because they've been training everyday.
The room is your comfort zone. When you're at the library with just a clear table and study materials. Your mind makes it easy for you to study. You'll mimic people around you. Monkey see Monkey do 🤣 .
You'll start to make your parents so relieved and proud. Especially if you were a failing student. When you're putting in a lot of time studying, you're respected a lot more.
It's effort. But if you were teaching a kid a new skill you'd start with something simple and easy. So just start the process. Make it day one. Every 5 mins you're putting in - makes a difference if you believe so. If you find it too hard. Keep trying in whatever form - I really respect someone who's trying something new and is okay with looking like a noob or if they're feeling intimidated or reluctant then they choose 1 logical step to do it. It does count.
