PS5 thermal service in Ottawa.

This PlayStation 5 came in already disassembled after the owner tried to fix an overheating issue at home.

The console was shutting down randomly and would take time before it could power on again. During the attempt, the liquid metal had spread outside the APU area, but luckily there was no board damage.

The console was fully inspected, the liquid metal area was cleaned and corrected, the heatsink and fan were cleaned, and the system was reassembled properly.

After testing, the PS5 powered on normally and stayed running as expected.

Liquid metal is not something to guess with. If it spreads where it shouldn’t, it can cause serious damage.

PS5 HDMI repair in Ottawa.

This PS5 came in with no signal due to a damaged HDMI port. During disassembly, heavy dust buildup was also found inside the cooling system.

Once the console was opened, the damaged HDMI connector was removed and the motherboard was prepared for a new port installation. The cooling system was cleaned before reassembly to help restore proper airflow.

A new HDMI port was installed, solder joints were inspected under the microscope, and the console was fully tested before final assembly.

Video output was confirmed on the bench and the PS5 was returned working normally.

At OHMX Repair Lab, we don't just replace parts. We verify the repair, inspect the work under magnification, and make sure the device leaves functioning the way it should.

Xbox Series X HDMI repair in Ottawa.

This Xbox Series X came in with no display output. After replacing the HDMI port, the console powered on and produced an image.

Most repairs would have stopped there.

During testing, however, the console was unable to negotiate 4K properly. EDID auto-detect was inconsistent, which meant the repair wasn't actually complete.

The board went back under the microscope for a second diagnostic pass. Several HDMI data lines required correction at the pin level to restore proper communication between the console and the display.

After the additional board-level work, EDID auto-detect functioned normally and the console successfully output full 4K UHD, confirmed through testing before final assembly.

A console showing a picture doesn't always mean the repair is finished.

PS5 HDMI repair in Ottawa.

This PS5 came in with no signal, and it had already been worked on before.

Once it went under the microscope, the issue was not just the HDMI port. Several HDMI port pins had lifted from the board, a previous jumper needed to be redone, and one side of a filtering capacitor near the HDMI area was not soldered.

That kind of detail matters. A console can work for a short time and fail again if the connector area is not cleaned up properly.

The HDMI area was cleaned, the jumper was redone, the capacitor joint was corrected, and a new HDMI port was installed and inspected under the microscope.

Signal confirmed on the bench before reassembly.

Xbox Series X HDMI Repair + Deep Cleaning

This Xbox Series X came in with no video output. The owner had already tried resetting the console, hoping it was a software issue.

After inspection, the problem was physical: the HDMI port was damaged and needed to be replaced.

The port was removed, the board was inspected, and a new HDMI port was installed. While the console was open, we also performed a full internal cleaning due to heavy dust buildup around the fan and airflow path.

Repair process:

• HDMI port replacement
• Board inspection under the microscope
• Internal dust and debris removal
• Console reassembled and tested

The console is now outputting video properly again.

Xbox HDMI repair in Ottawa.

This one came in fully disassembled in a box with no HDMI output.

The HDMI port was physically damaged, and the repair ended up being more involved than a simple port replacement. Some pads needed recovery work before the new port could be installed properly.

New HDMI port installed, board checked, console reassembled, tested and working.

This is the kind of repair where rushing usually makes things worse.

Second PS5 this week. Same root cause.
This one was referred by a customer we serviced the day before. Came in with an overheating warning and had shut down once during use.
Opened it up and found the same thing: liquid metal on the APU fully oxidized. At that point it's not transferring heat properly regardless of how clean the rest of the console is.
Full teardown, heatsink cleaned, old liquid metal removed, fresh application, tested and running properly.
An overheating warning is your PS5 telling you something specific. Dust is rarely the whole story.
Two consoles. Two referrals. Same diagnosis.

PS5 Internal Cleaning & Thermal Service — Ottawa

This PS5 came in overheating and shutting down shortly after turning on. The owner mentioned it had already been cleaned before — but the problem kept coming back.

The issue was dried and oxidized liquid metal on the APU. A surface clean won’t fix that.

Full disassembly, fan and heatsink cleaning, old liquid metal removed, fresh liquid metal applied, tested and confirmed working.

If your PS5 is loud, hot, or shutting down — and someone already “cleaned it” — it might need more than dust removal.

PS5 showing no signal on your TV?

The most common cause is the HDMI port — and it's
a repair that requires microsoldering to do properly.

At OHMX Repair Lab we inspect the port under
magnification, replace it with the correct spec part,
and test signal output before the console goes back
to you.

Parts are in stock. Most repairs are completed
