Xbox Series X HDMI repair and thermal service in Ottawa.

This Xbox Series X came in with a damaged HDMI port and no proper video output.

Once it was opened, the HDMI port was not the only issue. The console also had heavy dust buildup obstructing the heatsink airflow.

That matters.

A console can get its HDMI port replaced and still come back later with overheating or shutdown problems if the cooling system is ignored while it is already open.

The damaged HDMI port was replaced, the connector area was cleaned, and the console received a thermal service with fresh MX4 thermal paste and thermal putty.

After reassembly, video output was restored and 4K was verified. The console was also tested under load, with temperatures staying around 55–60°C after 30 minutes.

This is why we inspect the full system, not just the obvious broken part.

Lenovo Yoga C940 Software Diagnostic & Repair

This Lenovo Yoga C940 came in with Windows Update problems and several system functions not working properly.

We started with hardware diagnostics to rule out a physical failure, including MemTest and CrystalDisk testing. No memory or storage faults were identified, and the reported issue was isolated to the software side.

During diagnostics, we also identified elevated operating temperatures. A thermal service was recommended, but the customer chose not to proceed with that service at this time.

Windows was reinstalled, and the reported software issues were resolved.

**PS5 HDMI Repair Done Right**

This PS5 came in with no image output and a visibly damaged HDMI port.

During inspection, we found that the HDMI port was broken, the solder connections to the board were compromised, and a nearby capacitor had also been ripped off.

The repair included:
• HDMI port replacement
• Replacement of the damaged capacitor
• Heavy dust removal
• Fresh liquid metal application

After the repair, the console was fully tested. Video output was restored, discs were reading correctly, network connectivity was working, and controllers paired normally.

At OHMX Repair Lab, we diagnose the actual failure first, then repair what the console needs.

PS5 HDMI warranty follow-up in Ottawa.

This PS5 came back under warranty after a previous HDMI repair.

The complaint was no video output, so the console went back on the bench for inspection. Under the microscope, a connection issue was found at one of the HDMI pins.

That is exactly why warranty exists.

The repair was covered at no charge. No guessing, no arguing, no pushing the customer into another paid repair.

The HDMI port was replaced again, the connector area was inspected under the microscope, and fresh liquid metal was applied while the console was already open.

After reassembly, the PS5 went through full validation before return.

Video output was verified at 4K. Bluetooth was confirmed working. Network functionality was confirmed. The disc reader was tested with a game disc, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Not every repair story is about something dramatic.

Sometimes the important part is standing behind the work, checking the issue properly, and making it right when something does not hold up the way it should.

That is what a real warranty should mean.

PS5 Controller Stick Drift Repair

Two PS5 controllers came in with the same issue: left stick drift.

After inspection, drift was confirmed on both left analog sticks. We replaced the affected modules with TMR modules and installed new stick caps on all four analog sticks.

Both controllers were tested after the repair and are working as expected.

At OHMX Repair Lab, we diagnose the problem first and replace only what the repair actually requires.

MacBook Air liquid damage diagnostic in Ottawa.

Seven months of corrosion, and the logic board was untouched.

This MacBook Air came in after a water spill. The timeline mattered more than the symptoms: the trackpad stopped working in January, the keyboard stopped working in June, and the machine kept being used and charged in between.

That is the dangerous part with liquid damage.

Water alone is one thing. Water sitting inside a powered device for months is different. Corrosion keeps working, especially when voltage is still being applied.

The MacBook had already been opened and inspected elsewhere, but no repair had been completed.

On our bench, nothing was powered on until the internal inspection was done. With liquid damage, turning the machine on before checking where the residue sits can turn a repairable device into a dead one.

Full teardown first. Microscope inspection. Photos before cleaning.

The residue told the story. Liquid had pooled underneath the trackpad and stayed there. The trackpad board had heavy corrosion around its controller area.

The main logic board was then inspected across its full surface.

Clean.

No corrosion found on the logic board.

That changed the whole direction of the diagnostic, because the processor, storage area, and main board were not the damaged section.

The keyboard needed its own answer. It would have been easy to assume the corroded trackpad had caused the keyboard failure too, but that would have been guessing.

So the MacBook was tested with the trackpad fully disconnected from the system.

The keyboard still did not respond.

Two separate failures. Confirmed by testing, not assumption.

The customer received the findings in writing, along with repair options and realistic lead times. One required part was backordered with no confirmed arrival date, so they decided not to proceed with the repair.

No repair was completed on this one.

But the customer left knowing exactly what failed, what did not fail, what the options were, and what was not at risk.

If your laptop or console has had liquid exposure, do not wait months to have it inspected. Continued use and charging can allow corrosion to keep spreading long after the original spill.

That is what a proper diagnostic is for.

Xbox Series X HDMI repair in Ottawa.

This Xbox Series X came in with a physically damaged HDMI port. Once it was opened, the HDMI issue was not the only thing worth documenting.

Inside, there was heavy dust buildup across the cooling path, and liquid residue was also found inside the console. That does not automatically mean the board is dead, but it does mean the console needs to be inspected properly before calling the repair “just an HDMI port.”

The damaged HDMI port was removed and replaced. The connector area was cleaned, the new port was installed, and the console was inspected before going back together.

Since the console was already open, the heavy dust buildup was also handled as an approved add-on before reassembly. Airflow matters, especially on a console that depends on a tight cooling path.

After reassembly, the console was tested on the bench and confirmed outputting video properly, including 4K verification.

A working picture is not the only checkpoint. The port, the board, the cooling system, and the final output all need to be checked before the console goes back to the customer.

Customer report: “The PS5 disc drive isn’t working.”

Before replacing anything, we tested it properly.

The console went through a standard diagnostic with 15 separate disc tests using DVD movies, Blu-ray movies, and game discs. Testing was completed across multiple sessions with the PS5 positioned both vertically and horizontally.

Every test passed. The drive consistently recognized, loaded, and read all three disc types without errors. No disc drive fault could be reproduced, so no unnecessary parts were replaced.

The console also received a complete thermal service. Final testing confirmed stable, expected temperatures and correct disc drive operation.

This is why diagnostics come first. A reported symptom tells us where to begin, but measurements and repeatable testing determine what actually needs repair.

A PS5 came in after the storm. Completely dead. No standby light, no beep, no fan movement, nothing at all when plugged in.

When a console is that far gone, the temptation is to guess. We measured instead.

First step was characterizing the actual state rather than accepting "it does nothing." With AC applied there was no standby light at all, which matters, because on a PS5 that light comes on before you ever press the power button. No standby light means the console never got far enough to decide whether to start.

The power supply came out for testing. No output with AC applied, and inside there was arc damage with burnt residue on the housing.

Here is the part most people would get wrong. The AC input fuse was still intact. We removed it and measured it out of circuit, and it conducted fine.

That tells a specific story. A fuse opens when sustained current flows through it. This fuse never opened, which means there was no slow overload. A fast surge went through, damaged the supply directly, and was over before a fuse could react. If we had only checked the fuse and seen it intact, we would have concluded the supply was fine and gone looking in the wrong place.

The bigger question was still open. Storm damage rarely stops at one component, and the motherboard had not been tested.

So the board was isolated and powered from a bench supply with a current limit low enough to be safe. It accepted power without any sign of a short. Then, with the power button pressed, it beeped and began its startup sequence. We reproduced that three times.

That board survived the surge.

On a PS5 the motherboard is the expensive part and the part that usually decides whether a console is worth repairing at all. A dead console after a storm is not automatically a write off, and the only way to know is to test the supply and the board separately instead of assuming.

If your console died during the storm, do not throw it out yet.

PS5 Overheating? Sometimes the problem starts with what you can’t see.

This PS5 was shutting down after only a few minutes of gameplay.

During inspection, we found significant dust buildup and ni****ne residue throughout the console, including heavy contamination around the cooling system. A detailed deep cleaning and thermal service were required to properly address the condition of the system.

After service, the console was tested under heavy use and maintained stable temperatures. We also verified internet connectivity and wireless controller connections.

At OHMX Repair Lab, we diagnose first and repair based on what the system actually needs.
