PS5 thermal service in Ottawa.
This PlayStation 5 came in already disassembled after the owner tried to fix an overheating issue at home.
The console was shutting down randomly and would take time before it could power on again. During the attempt, the liquid metal had spread outside the APU area, but luckily there was no board damage.
The console was fully inspected, the liquid metal area was cleaned and corrected, the heatsink and fan were cleaned, and the system was reassembled properly.
After testing, the PS5 powered on normally and stayed running as expected.
Liquid metal is not something to guess with. If it spreads where it shouldn’t, it can cause serious damage.
Diagnostics first. Parts second.
