Attention all Community Health Directors, ADI's, CHR's, youth and education workers and especially dieticians and nutrition experts::

This is an insane series of events being put on by the Sioux Lookout First Nation Health Authority..

We really do need to look at diabetes and realize, nothing has worked. Ever since we knew it was going to be a problem, all efforts to mitigate the burden have unfortunately, failed miserably.

The diabetes burden continues to rise, not by a trivial marginal degree, but massively. We are talkin bout some Indigenous communities having a 98% morbid obesity AND t2diabetes diagnosis upon graduating high-school.

How many of our people recieve amputations, dialysis or are partially blind before a diagnosis of diabetes? Our diagnosing strategies are archaic and SOC must change. We can be detecting diabetes decades earlier with simple interventions.

What role does education HAVE to play in our new ability to detect diabetes so early?

- We know that life expectancy after the first amputation is less than 5 years.

- We know that cardiovascular disease is the number one killer, but did we know this is driven by diabetes?

- Are we ever taught that an appropriate diet can out-compete any and every genetic risk of diabetes?

Its about time we said "What actually works?"

These will be two super powerful presentations on my super-passion, diabetes.

We will be discussing a culturally appropriate nutritional and exercise protocols and all of the medicines to support. Our second session is going to use medicine and verify this nutritional interventions ability to not just heal from diabetes but also heal the damages diabetes has caused, whether you know you had diabetes or not.

There will be something for everyone in these presentations, see you there friends! Share it up for those who might benefit!

Exciting News! We hope to see you in Fort Severn
