Another happy customer and another successful data recovery.

This iPhone came in completely dead after being exposed to water. Once I opened it up, it was obvious the damage was severe, with heavy corrosion throughout the device. Based on what I found, it was likely salt water, which is especially harsh on electronics.

After carefully inspecting everything, I found that while some corrosion had reached the logic board, it didn’t appear to have spread into the most critical areas.

The phone was completely disassembled, the logic board was professionally cleaned, and I used a donor battery and display to safely test the device.

The moment of truth… it powered on.

The owner will be able to access their photos, videos, contacts, and other irreplaceable memories that they thought were gone forever.

Every water-damaged phone is different, and there are never any guarantees. But this is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t give up on a device that won’t turn on. Even if the phone can’t be repaired, there’s often still a chance to recover what’s most important—the data.

This iPhone came in with power issues and not turning on. When I opened it, I noticed a lot of corrosion near the charging port area as well as the display back.

My plan is to disconnect all the non-essential peripherals, replace the display, and try to get some power to this device to recover the customers photos and data.

One of my favourite parts of an iPad repair… peeling off that protective film. 😌

This iPad 9 came in with a shattered front glass, but the display underneath was still in perfect working order.

A lot of people don’t realize that the screen is actually made up of two separate parts:
• The digitizer – the front glass that senses your touch.
• The LCD display – the panel underneath that shows the image.

When only the glass is damaged, replacing the digitizer can restore the iPad without replacing the entire display, saving money while keeping the original screen.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about that final peel. 👌

UPDATE!!

I’ve managed to locate the short on the daughterboard. After disconnecting it and powering the phone with my bench supply, I was able to sign in and backup the device!
