When I first finished learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I built a few personal projects to strengthen my skills.

At that point, I was convinced I was ready. At least, I thought I could start making money from frontend development.

Lolzz.

But one thing I quickly noticed was that the teams reaching out to me were not looking for frontend developers who only knew HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Most of them wanted someone who could work with React.js or Next.js.

And I knew neither.

As the demand kept increasing, I realised I was not where I needed to be. If I wanted to compete in the job market, I had to level up.

So, I started learning React.js.

It remains one of the best decisions I have made in my tech journey.

Today, I no longer have to turn down team projects because I do not know React.js. It has opened doors to opportunities I would have missed.

Right now, I am taking another step by learning TypeScript and Next.js because the truth is, as a frontend developer, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript alone are no longer enough if you want to stay competitive.

Why am I sharing this?

If you have finished learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, do not stop there.

There are more skills you need to become truly job-ready, and React.js is one of the most important.

That is one of the major reasons I am hosting this 2-month React.js class, to help you bridge that gap, build real-world projects, and prepare yourself for the opportunities that are waiting for you.

The class starts this Saturday, and the registration fee is just 50,000cfa

Do not settle for where you are currently. Keep learning, keep improving, and keep levelling up.

I look forward to seeing you in class.

Yesterday, I did my first television interview after four solid years of creating content.

I want to explain why it took that long because there is a massive lesson in it.
I watch creators in Nairobi start doing well online and immediately lose their minds.

They start seeing themselves as demigods.
They quickly accept every single interview, corporate gig, and random stage.

They want to be on TV every other minute.
Slowly and without realizing it, they dilute the exact brand they worked so hard to build.

When you say yes to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that waves money at you, people get too used to you.

You become everywhere, and being everywhere means you are nowhere.

Overexposure makes the audience stop truly seeing you.
Familiarity quietly kills your mystique.

I am deliberately protective about my media appearances.
I personally choose to say no to most of them.

Yesterday, I made a rare exception strictly because it was HOPE TV.
I am deeply passionate about my Christian faith and that alignment was completely worth it.

But do I plan to rush back onto another TV set anytime soon?
Absolutely not.

Because I understand what actually protects a serious brand.
You have to learn how to be selfish with your time.

You must confidently say no to flashy gigs regardless of the cash they are waving.
You are not just eating for today; you are actively protecting your future.

Scarcity gives your presence heavy weight.
Restraint keeps your brand incredibly sharp.

Every no strictly protects the high value of your rare yes.
Building a powerful brand is never about being seen everywhere.

It is entirely about being intentional about exactly where you show up and why.
Guard your name.
Protect your presence.

Say no far more often than you say yes.
Let your appearances actually mean something.

The absolute strongest way to protect your brand is learning how to comfortably say no.

🎨 5 Proven Strategies to Get Clients as a Graphic Designer

1. Build a Professional Portfolio Your portfolio is your strongest marketing tool. Showcase your best logo designs, flyers, posters, social media graphics, business cards, and branding projects. Even if you don't have clients yet, create sample designs that demonstrate your skills.
2. Be Active on Social Media Post your work consistently on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp Status. Share design tips, before-and-after transformations, client testimonials, and videos of your design process. Consistency builds trust and attracts clients.
3. Network and Ask for Referrals Connect with business owners, churches, schools, NGOs, and entrepreneurs. Attend local events and introduce your services. Ask satisfied clients to recommend you to their friends and colleagues. Referrals are one of the fastest ways to grow.
4. Offer Value Before Selling Instead of only advertising your services, provide helpful content such as free design tips, branding advice, or a free consultation. You can also offer a discounted first project to new clients. People are more likely to hire someone who has already helped them.
5. Build Your Personal Brand Create a professional brand with a logo, business name, consistent colors, and clear contact information. Have a page, WhatsApp Business account, and an online portfolio. Respond quickly to inquiries, communicate professionally, and always deliver quality work on time.
💡 Success Tip: People don't buy designs—they buy solutions. Show potential clients how your designs can help them attract customers, increase sales, and grow their businesses.
