Challenge: Terminal Portfolio

Dateline: Sunday 20th October 2024

PS: This project helps revise data structure and algorithm knowledge. For the navigation with "cd", sub directories listing with "ls" and actual directory with "pwd", i used a 2D array of a tree.

Let's review my last build together.
A Robotic arm made with cardboard that I controlled via web with my gamepad. I started by building the 3DOF robotic arm, code for a polar coordinate control with arduino(forward kinematics), then I made the virtual gamepad with HTML.

I interfaced the gamepad with the robotic arm. I made a 3D model which moves as the robot moves. For now, the real virtual communication is unidirectional, but don't worry, this build is coming back in our Weeklynnovation. I had some issues with the Inverse kinematics which was inconsistent due to inaccuracies in the cardboard cut. It made the two IK models to slightly differ. I resigned (for now) on using the IK, and I went for Forward kinematics approach.

There were some latency in communication. From gamepad to 3D model to Arduino to 3D model (feedback). I used for that communication a compression algorithm I am working on. It solved the problem.

I aim to restart this project with a better cardboard model.

If you've ever watched Avengers, you agree with me Tony Stark is one of the coolest dudes of the show. It makes no doubt his armor is incredibly advanced and may pull away the attention of most engineers from the action to the system's behavior.

Well, I've got to watch Avengers numerous times as I grew in engineering field with the so shared thought of making it real a day. Over time, I was a little bit confused about which kind of engineering I should go for to make one of my big dreams come through.
It's obvious the mechanical structure is advanced, as well as the software in it. You guessed right if you said Electronics too.

Now, let's pay attention to the last component of the perfect engineering branch for you, future Iron man builder.
Control Engineering is with no doubts as important as the pre stated branches. The flying for example won't be what we picture as cool without a control system.

The perfect engineering field for you that combines mechanical systems, electrical systems, computers and control systems is:
Mechatronics

It's a versatile field with applicability in many domains as automotive, robotics, aerospace, medical, defense, material processing systems. Also known as Model based design, it's with no doubt the field for the future Iron man.

And guess what.!! HLab has prepared 32 mechatronics projects under the HLab weekly challenge*, going from aerospace prototypes to defense, through robotics and automotive.

Notre premier défi débute Lundi le 7 Octobre. Restez connectés.

Permettez moi de vous parler d'avantage du concept *Défi Hebdomadaire HLab*.

Ce concept était au préalable instauré pour m'aider à embrasser ma créativité en relevant des défis proposés par mes contacts whatsapp. Ces défis incluaient des conceptions, du prototypage et des solutions logicielles.

J'étais au début assez sceptique à l'idée d'exposer mon travail sur les réseaux sociaux et des plateformes telles que Facebook et YouTube.
Mais en surfant, je suis tombé sur le travail assez original ( que je conseille de regarder ) de David CN, qui met en lumière ses aptitudes et ces conceptions, même avec leurs petites imperfections.

Je vois cette opportunité de motiver, d'encourager les autres, de devenir une source d'inspiration et un leader d'une révolution technologique. Tout commence par le simple fait de MONTRER AUX GENS CE QU'ON SAIT FAIRE.

Ce qui nous emmène à ce que nous verrons Lundi le 7 Octobre.
