A robotic cell may run unattended, but support engineers still need a secure way in.

For this automated CNC feeding system, Robustel provided the connectivity and remote-access layer that allowed engineers to support equipment without making a costly site visit the default first step.

A Robustel R1520 connected the cell to RCMS and RobustVPN. Through this setup, authorised engineers could remotely access the camera to inspect workpiece positioning, connect to the industrial PC for diagnostics, and reach permitted controller interfaces for configuration work.

RCMS provided centralised management of the router, while RobustVPN created a secure remote IP path to approved equipment behind the gateway.

Together, the solution gave engineers practical access to the systems they needed to support - helping them investigate issues, adjust approved settings and keep automated production moving from wherever they were.

The true test of reliable Passenger Wi-Fi happens on the road, not against the perfect signal at the depot.

For this intercity bus operator, Robustel provided the onboard connectivity needed to keep passengers and vehicle systems connected as buses moved between routes and changing mobile coverage areas.

At the centre of the solution, the Robustel R2011 acted as the vehicle’s communications hub. Wi-Fi AP mode provided passenger internet access, while five Ethernet ports connected wired onboard equipment to the same network.

Supported VPN functions also gave authorised teams a secure path for remote service tasks.

The solution supported the connection records required by the operator’s local environment, bringing passenger access, onboard equipment and remote connectivity together on one industrial platform.

For a network that is always moving, Robustel provided a communications architecture designed around the realities of the route - not just the conditions at the depot.

When a store loses its fixed line, the branch still needs to keep working.

For this multi-site retailer, Robustel provided a resilient connectivity and failover solution that combined the store’s primary DSL service with industrial 4G backup.

The Robustel R1510 managed branch connectivity, automatically moving traffic to 4G if the fixed line dropped, and returning it to DSL when service was restored. An access point also supported in-store Wi-Fi.

Across the wider network, RCMS gave the operations team a central location to monitor and manage the deployed routers, update configurations and access devices remotely.

Together, the R1510 and RCMS turned failover into a centrally-managed process. Stores gained a second connectivity path when fixed services failed, while the operations team gained visibility and control across the fleet - without relying on store staff to troubleshoot network issues.

Automated meter reading gets complicated when electricity, gas and solar systems meet.

For one industrial utility estate, Robustel provided the connectivity layer needed to bring data from distributed meters and generation equipment into a central SCADA environment - despite differences in interfaces, baud rates and protocols.

Our industrial gateways connected equipment installed at different times, while supporting IEC 62056 and Modbus communications with the relevant endpoints. Data travelled over 4G to support hourly meter readings, near-real-time solar monitoring and exchange with an upstream system.

The result was one communications architecture, capable of supporting multiple energy types without forcing every device to communicate in the same way.

For the operations team, consumption and feed-in data could be viewed centrally, avoiding the need to build and manage a separate monitoring path for every asset class.

A groundwater well may have several instruments, and they rarely communicate the same way.

For this drinking-water network, Robustel provided the connectivity needed to bring pressure, flow and residual-chlorine data from distributed wells into a closed SCADA environment.

At selected sites, Robustel R1511 industrial routers connected existing RS-485 serial instruments over 4G.

Ethernet and I/O supported other equipment at the stations, while cellular backhaul carried the collected data into central monitoring.

Rather than requiring every well to use the same hardware or interface (and having to replace perfectly serviceable equipment), the solution brought different generations and types of field instruments into one monitoring architecture, saving thousands of dollars - and the most precious resource - time.

The real test of a tram network is when the equipment starts moving.

For this fleet, Robustel provided the industrial 4G connectivity needed to give operators remote access to onboard cameras and the human-machine interface, while supporting vehicle location, route information and fault notifications.

But the onboard connectivity had to work beyond the test bench. It also needed to handle movement, temperature changes and uneven mobile coverage along the route.

The Robustel solution was first tested in the office to confirm integration with the onboard systems. It was then installed on a vehicle, and put through the same checks under real operating conditions.

With the communications path proven on the move, the team could roll out the solution across the wider fleet with confidence.

From onboard systems to the control centre, Robustel provides the reliable communications layer needed to keep connected public transport visible and manageable in real-world conditions.

A weather station can keep measuring, but without a reliable connection, its data remains stranded in the field.

For this automatic monitoring network, Robustel provided the communications layer required to send pressure, temperature and humidity readings from remote weather stations back to central monitoring software for analysis over 4G.

Our industrial gateway connected to station equipment via RS-232 and Ethernet. These were employed to support different generations of instruments, while industrial cellular connectivity provided the backhaul from remote outdoor locations. Remote management also allowed teams to check and manage communications equipment without travelling to site.

The result is an architecture that connects existing instruments to a wide-area network without requiring every station to use the same local interface.

For monitoring networks that grow and change over time, Robustel provides the connectivity needed to bring legacy and newer equipment together - and keep environmental data moving.

In differential protection, high latency between measurements can cause phase errors and delays when identifying and isolating a fault.

In this particular smart-grid project, two substations were connected over 3GPP Release 16 5G, allowing protection terminals to exchange synchronised measurements without extending fibre across the full route.

The protection terminals generated and processed the differential-protection data, while the 5G link carried those measurements between protection points. A Robustel EG5120 provided the 5G communications and edge gateway layer.

This separation kept the architecture clear - protection logic remained within the protection system, while the gateway provided the communications path between locations.

For the utility team, it offered a more flexible way to connect protection points where extending new fibre would have been difficult or costly.
