🚨Open Call for ‘Nature Telling Stories’ Workshop in English🌳

The ‘Nature Telling Stories’ workshop cultivates an ecological storytelling practice that fosters a more attentive and caring relationship with the Earth.

The workshop offers both theoretical knowledge and practical tools to enable participants to create stories that recognize and emphasise the agency, interconnectedness and animacy of the more-than-human world, and that offer nuanced and intersectional interpretations of our complex eco-social context. Framed within spiritual ecology and creative nonfiction, the course addresses the need for a more sensitive and less sensationalist discourse surrounding the planetary crisis and our relationship with the Earth, inviting participants to develop their own critical and creative practice of ecological storytelling.

For this ocassion, we have partial and full scholarships available. In addition, as always, we offer discounts to paying members of our Patreon community.

Este lunes en de Radio Universidad, Fernando Chaves Espinach y Karina Salguero Moya conversarán con el equipo de la plataforma multimedia Wimblu, un proyecto que explora la intersección entre la cultura, la ecología y la espiritualidad a través de contenidos, procesos creativos y diálogo interdisciplinario.

Les acompañarán Alessandra Baltodano, Carolina Bello May y Pablo Franceschi, quienes compartirán la visión de Wimblu, sus proyectos y la manera en que esta iniciativa propone nuevas formas de pensar la relación entre las personas, el territorio y el entorno.

In this conversation we spoke with Dr. Radvilė Rimgailė-Voicik, a lithuanian botanist and scientist at Vilnius University's Life Sciences Center, that specializes in researching lycopods that evoke the ancient memories of the dinosaur era. She is the co-author of the multimedia story ‘Lycophyte Futures’.

Our second guest is Santiago Eslava-Bejarano a PhD student in comparative literature at the University of Southern California (USC) that focus his research on the ways in which language and interspecies communication are represented and problematized in contemporary literature, arts, and philosophy. He is the author of the text ‘Tending to the Pain of the Jungle’. Both stories are part of our Volume 10 dedicated to ‘Peace’.

In this conversation we sat down with Shaunak Sen, the award-winning Indian filmmaker behind ‘All That Breathes’ (2022), to explore the ideas at the heart of his documentary: care as a response to the ecosocial crisis, the entanglement of political and ecological violence, and the quiet, radical act of tending to lives that the logic of progress deems expendable.

All That Breathes is the film that inspired the text ‘In Search of a Space to Breathe’ written by Fernando Chaves and featured on the creative documentary column of our Magazine’s Volume 10: Peace.
