My Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro stopped pulling filament after just days. Contacted support → got a „replacement hub“ → opened the package → it was THIS tiny part 🫠

Cracked the whole AMS open, swapped it, and it’s running again. Owning a 3D printer = learning to repair it.

How My House Prepares for My Return from Vacation!

As we return from our family travels, my house handles everything:

A joystick transplant saved this RC controller.

Both original sticks of my kids‘ Megalodon monster truck broke — plastic nubs snapped off. I suspected the truck first, tore the whole thing apart, checked every motor and wire. Hours on the wrong patient.

Eventually I caught it: the controller. Desoldered the dead joysticks, wired up a generic 2-axis KY-084 module, cut its PCB down to fit the housing, and modified the top cover so the new stick has room to move in every direction. Taped over the second hole.

Not fast. Not pretty. But the truck rolls and the 3-year-old is happy.

I fix before I buy — not for the money. For the lesson my kids take from it: broken things can be repaired, not just replaced.

Our smart home knew we were stressed before we did

Today my house was stressed. Right now it isn’t —and my smart home knew both, minute by minute.

I built a Family Stress Score in Home Assistant: seven sensors fuse into one 0–100 number. Living-room noise peaks from a mic. Burst patterns. Three motion sensors in the ground floor. Time of day. Who’s home alone with the kids. Weekend factor.

When the score climbs over 60, lights warm automatically, music suggestions get calmer, notifications get held back. Not because I asked.
Because the house noticed.

Stack: Home Assistant + ESPHome + mic + Aqara FP2 + PIR sensors + a single template sensor — no AI needed.
