HiBlue studio is now officially closed. We would like to thank Coworking Bonn for hosting our activities so well.
For live-streaming projects we recommend contacting multibc.tv and for video projects Julian Feldmann who we worked with well in the past. Steve Paine is still supporting small evening and weekend live-streaming projects in Bonn where possible.

HiBlue would like to announce a further enhancement of it's services. In the past we've focused on international customers but it's clear that we can do more for our local Bonn and NRW customers. To that end we'll be adding German content to our website and switching to primarily German-language customer relations. Over the past 2 years we've worked closely and very successfully with multibc.tv so from this week our customer requests will be handled there. Naturally we'll continue to have English speaking support for our international customers. We look forward to increased cooperation with our German customers.

Facebook Live is a great way to increase the visibility of a page, and therefore, a product, organisation, event or brand. The graph below shows our Facebook reach and includes three live streams that we hosted on our page in the last 3 months. The results are clear. But how much effort does it take to set-up a live stream event? You can start with a good smartphone, a low-cost tripod and, (importantly) a good microphone. The single backpack, one camera mobile streaming kit used at podium49 in Bonn on Monday and the equipment we will continue to use to support local groups and communities in Bonn.
For those interested in the technical aspects we can say that we're really happy with the Rhode Videomaker kit paired with the Boya mic. We also have the lapel mic if needed.

We would, however, like to remove the HDMI-USB adaptor and get a camera-mounted NDI transmitter in the mix to remove the one awkward cable that needs to be taped on the floor.

There are two tripods (lamp and mic) and we're adding a monopod for the camera too. The Canon HF G25 still works really well. Twin SD, huge battery and reasonable low light performance.

Also in the rucksack are LTE modems a few spares and the gaffer tape.

We're writing a risk mitigation guide for live streaming. Aimed at customers (project managers) it includes everything you need to consider for brand protection.
For example, if you're streaming over one Internet connection, what happens when that connection fails? A bonding VPN (using multiple service providers over cell, cable or DSL) or auto-fallback stream via a separate link (YouTube does this well) is the answer.
We estimate that during 2017 there was a 5% failure rate, outside our control. with our Facebook streams. That's got a lot better now as Facebook irons problems out but for some, even a 1% risk is too much.

For 32. Bonner Ideenbörse this evening in Bonn, two clean and mobile livestreaming kits. Primary with good handheld video camera and local FullHD recording. Backup with phone. Both with a good mic. Audio always first for video livestreaming. The whole lot, including light, will fit in a (large) backpack. 🎙️

Good morning Bonn. Streaming Friday is *secretly* open today, for free! Yup, from 1200 at the Cowoking Bonn studio I will have a small green-screen Facebook Live setup ready for anyone wanting to come in and do a short social update to fans and customers. Or just pop in for a coffee and to learn about the setup and the advantages of Facebook Live. 1200-1500.
