The actual question is: How architects can contribute to solving the problems of the city - growth and poverty? And it is not about having power but about innovating.
So in short the answer to the questions at the end of the news report is - NO, innovate instead! "Should architects organize themselves to demand more power in the development of the built environment? Are these the biggest challenges facing architects and architecture today?"

On Tuesday night, seven Pritzker Prize laureates—Richard Rogers, Glenn Murcutt, Christian de Portzamparc, Wang Shu, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, and the newest among the group, Alejandro Aravena—gathered at the United Nations headquarters in New York to discuss what they thought to be the greatest chal…

3D printing an object that's larger than the 3D printer is one of the biggest hurdles of the revolution that additive manufacturing promised. This swarm of tiny spider-bots by Siemens however can collaboratively complete prints for car bodies, ship hulls, airplane fuselages and most likely buildings.
It is a promising start in breaking the constraining envelope of the 3D printer but lets admit it - spiders are creep! That's why at AWARE we envisioned a similar approach with much more friendly looking robots. Check out our 3D printing chickens here: http://www.aware-studio.com/crowd-sourcing-the-home/

Can you imagine? Designing a building, just having in mind the pros and cons of the soil type, it is going to stand on, can make the life and experience of its inhabitants so much better - it can provide structural stability, may be used as water filter or serve as a thermal provider.

However, the idea to use such technology to create large building structures is a relatively new one. As the research institutions highlighted below suggest, it is indee…

At AWARE, we submitted an idea to the Future Architecture Platform.
We imagined an Architecture made by 7,000,000,000 people with computer games and 3D-printing.

Please help us get selected to present this idea at a series of architecture festivals and exhibitions across Europe in 2016. Like it here: http://goo.gl/wtP4Sq

Imagine a world where computer games and 3D-printing robots help you shape your surroundings.
