🔧🎮 Maker Faire Hannover 2026 – wir sind dabei! 🎮🔧

Am kommenden Wochenende, 15. & 16. August, findet die Maker Faire Hannover statt – und auch wir sind mit einem eigenen Stand dabei!

📍 Eilenriedehalle – Stand 192

Bei uns geht es nicht ums Kaufen, sondern ums Ausprobieren, Entdecken, Knobeln und Selbermachen. Wir verkaufen an unserem Stand nichts. Stattdessen möchten wir zeigen, wie viel Spaß Technik, Elektronik, Programmierung und klassisches Tüfteln machen können.

🧩 Zwei Escape Games warten auf euch!
Stellt euch den Herausforderungen unserer interaktiven Escape Games aus den Welten von Resident Evil und Fallout. Hier sind logisches Denken, Teamarbeit und ein bisschen technisches Verständnis gefragt.

Hinter den Kulissen steckt dabei jede Menge MINT: Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften und Technik treffen auf Elektronik, Mikrocontroller, Programmierung, 3D-Druck und handwerklichen Bau.

🛠️ Props zum Anfassen und Ausprobieren
Viele unserer selbstgebauten Props könnt ihr direkt am Stand ausprobieren und euch anschauen, wie aus einer Idee Schritt für Schritt ein funktionierendes Projekt entsteht.

Natürlich darf auch etwas fürs Erinnerungsalbum nicht fehlen: An der Fotowand der Star Wars Fans Hannover könnt ihr euch passend zum Wochenende ablichten lassen.

From kids' toy to Wasteland highlight! 🚀☢️

Just a little DIY project for in-between. I grabbed this blue toy vending machine on Amazon and completely modded it into a Fallout & Nuka-Cola themed masterpiece! 🥤💥

To make it happen, I had to completely take the whole thing apart. After that, it got a real visual upgrade:

🎨 Shell completely repainted in a vibrant red and elegant bronze.

🖼️ Replaced the cute original background with a custom-matching design.

💡 Even the top dome got a nice little detail added.

I'm absolutely thrilled with how it turned out – it looks perfect in my gaming corner! 🎮

It’s finally done: our Fallout Escape Game is finished.

After several months of development, the game will enter its first test round with selected players next week. Since the beginning of the year, an idea has slowly turned into a complete mobile game setup: with a game hub, seven puzzle modules, a game master module, vials, color cards, cables, player aids, and everything else you need to voluntarily confront people with technical problems.

The internal tests are finished and all modules are working. Now comes the exciting part: real players. In other words, exactly the kind of people who will do things you never thought of while developing the game.

The project will not be sold. Instead, we will make the complete source code, all Ge**er files, and the STL files available.

The idea behind it is to show an open example of how STEM subjects can be made more tangible in schools, for example as part of a student workshop or after-school club.

Because a project like this contains much more than “just building a game”:

Computer science through programming, game logic, module communication, and debugging.
Technology through electronics, PCBs, wiring, case construction, and 3D printing.
Science through sensors, colors, light, magnetic fields, and measurement principles.
Mathematics through logic puzzles, combinations, sequences, pattern recognition, coordinates, probabilities, and calculations within the puzzles.

The important part: students are not just working with abstract tasks. They are planning, building, programming, designing, and finally playing something they created themselves.

STEM not as a dry worksheet, but as a project where something real stands in front of you at the end.

Over the next few weeks, we will regularly introduce the final modules in more detail and show what is behind them.

We also plan to present the Fallout Escape Game at Maker Faire Hanover in August. During the event, we will also raffle off two 3D printers on site: one each day.

For now, we are looking forward to the first test round, honest feedback, and finding out what unexpected chaos real players will bring to our nice little system.

Another puzzle for our Fallout Escape Game: Terminal Hack

Another module for our Escape Game is finished: “Terminal Hack.”
This puzzle is inspired by the well-known computer hacking minigame from the Fallout series and brings that terminal feeling into the real world.

This build uses an HD2004 display, a 4x4 matrix keypad, and a TCA8418 as the controller.
The goal was not only to make it work technically, but also to capture the look and atmosphere of a classic Fallout terminal.

The module is part of our larger Fallout Escape Game project, which is currently still in development. Step by step, more standalone puzzle modules are being created that will later form the complete experience.

This project is a non-commercial fan project and is not for sale.
Once the project is completed, all files such as Ge**ers, STLs, and source code will be released as open source.

The next puzzle for our Fallout escape game is finished.

This second puzzle is a color combination challenge: out of 5 colored cards, 4 have to be inserted in the correct order. The cards represent 5 well-known and important corporations from the Fallout universe.

For this build, we used aluminum cards that were laser-engraved with the corporations’ logos. Color detection is handled by 4 TCS34725 sensors, along with a few switches.

As with all our projects, all Ge**er, STL, and source code files will be released as open source once the project is completed.

The photos in this post show the current state of the puzzle and some of the details of the build.

Update from the Fallout Escape Game project.

The Power ReRouting Module is now mechanically and electronically completed, and the PCB is finished.
Next step: firmware development.

In the game, players must manually stabilize the power distribution of a generator system. Switch positions directly affect multiple indicators. No presets, no hidden automation. The challenge is reading the gauges, understanding the system, and making the right decisions.

Technical setup:
* ESP32-S3 as main controller
* MCP23017 for GPIO expansion
* 3× GC9A01A round displays used as analog-style gauges
* 16 toggle switches for manual power rerouting

The enclosure was custom-designed specifically for this module and built for durability and event use.

Based on your feedback and ideas for the Fallout Escape Game, the first prototype of the central hub is now finished.

The current concept is built around a central hub to which additional components and puzzle modules can be connected. This allows the game to be expanded flexibly with different puzzles and even played by multiple players at the same time.

On the hub, you can see the connectors for the individual components, each with its own status indicators. For player interaction, the hub is equipped with a 4-inch TFT display. It also includes an MP3 player with amplifier and speaker for audio output.

The aviation connectors on the front handle power supply (12V and 5V), presence detection, and communication via CAN bus.
