a big time saver when working with heavy project files like this CAD model! I wish i learnt this one years ago 🥲

3D modelling is one area I’ve often neglected, typically leaning more into lighting and texturing to carry my work, and so I’ve been setting time aside to work on this skill. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m somehow enjoying it?! Plus, seeing that sweet sweet topology at the end is so satisfying.

Big shoutout to for his modelling challenges, they’ve been great in giving me some direction 💪🏻

7+ years ago I made one of my first ever product renders (slide to the last slide to see) as part of a university project. It took me a good week to make that and I thought it looked amazing at the time. Looking back on it now, maybe not so much 😂

I just had another go at creating a product render for the same brand by redesigning the product, and applying some of the lessons I’ve learnt over the years to hopefully create something which looks a bit more visually appealing…I’d like to think I’ve got a bit better over the years 😄

I’ve broken down these scenes in my recent Patreon tutorial, and discussed some of the key lessons I’ve learnt over the years with my 3D journey 🙌🏼

From the archives (2024)…

A series of visualisations for an award-winning tequila. The overlapped label at the back was particularly interesting to figure out. I also established custom user data for the client so they could easily swap in/out different labels and artworks 🍾

3 takeaways from my recent talk 👇🏼

1. Practice makes progress. Find something you’re passionate about and pursue it to the fullest. Have fun with it, do things how you want, and learn to love the process even if you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing.

2. Community is key. We can all be great at what we do by ourselves, but we can thrive so much more with each other’s help. Open yourself up to advice, be inspired by peers, and likewise, be an inspiration to others.

3. We’re not just a job title, we’re creatives. Don’t close yourself off from exploring other creative avenues just because it may not your main profession or what you’re known for. You never know where your passions will take you.

Thank you to everyone who came to my talk, I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I (surprisingly) did. Maybe there will be more talks from me in the future 👀
