80s Overdrive Vice Pink

In addition to the iconic eighties palette of our new Overdrive series, there is another detail that places it in this golden decade for music, film and television: The characteristic Tango/Cash channel selector.

A lot of iconic eighties showbusiness duos were considered, and it was a difficult decision, but one of them was Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, the two detectives from Miami Vice. This series aired between 1984 and 1989 and revolutionised the way in which music and visual effects were integrated to tell the story. The music was so relevant to this crime story that some newspapers of the period gave readers a sneak preview of the songs that would appear in the episodes.

If you thought the pink colour of our 80s Vice Pink was for Miami Inter and in celebration of Leo Messi, we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.

80s Overdrive Purple Gain

There are albums that have revolutionized the music world and Purple Rain is one of them. Released in 1984, Prince’s 6th album ( 2nd with his band The Revolution) sold 25 million copies. Everything has been said and written about this musical gem, but as a curiosity: This album was the cause of the “Parental Advisory” label, so recognizable on CD covers in the 80s and 90s.

But Purple Rain is more than an album, it is also a movie, starring Prince himself and winning an Oscar for its original soundtrack. With this album Prince achieved the triple crown, placing the album, the single and the movie at the top of the charts. In the 80s, if ~the apocalypse~ the music would be a color, it may be purple.

It was created in 1979 but it was not until the following year that Sony decided to change the way music was consumed around the world. In 1980 the Walkman came into our lives, giving the possibility to all music lovers to move freely carrying their favorite songs. It became a pedalboard for the general public, where each cassette was like a different pedal, the Walkman became the best buddy for music lovers.

This color is our particular tribute.

80s Overdrive Power-Up Red.

A month of September like this but in 1985 Super Mario Bros is released and video games will never be the same again. The ‘buddy movie’ concept represented in playable format, Mario and Luigi our favourite Italian plumbers. Their powerful and iconic power- up abilities, the ultimate tool to fight against Bowser.

Maybe our 80s Overdrive is going to be the ultimate power-up for your guitar?

TRANSFER MARKET⚡️

Today we announce the addition of Iago Lorenzo to the ThatNewPedal.company team.

Iago is a great producer, mixing engineer and musician. His wide-ranging professional career has taken him to situations as diverse as improvising a studio in a cowshed or recording at Abbey Road. Much of the Galician music scene has passed through his hands: Agoraphobia, Furious Monkey House, Voltaica, Thom Archi, Javi Maneiro & Iván Ferreiro. His other area of work is the UK, where he has worked for artists such as Rob Holliday (Prodigy, Marilyn Manson), Awooga or Amplifier.
Over the years Iago has worked on productions for labels such as Universal Music Spain, Warner Music Spain, Esmerarte, Ernie Records and Subterfuge Records.

Now Iago joins the team to bring all his experience to the sound design of our pedals. His experience and extensive knowledge of the needs of musicians in and out of the studio, as well as the trends and future of music, will undoubtedly enrich us to develop better products.

In between so much fun: blackouts, many shades of paint, doubts, too cold for screen printing, snacks to eat, cold, repeat, headache, sleep and repeat.

Mistakes.

Let's talk about mistakes. During these years of experimentation learning how to make pedals we have learned many things, and each of those things have been preceded by countless mistakes.

Mistakes matter, mistakes are fundamental.

This sequence of images illustrates one of those moments in which the error took possession of a process. A mistake from which we learned. One of the most iconic elements of Raio Tones & Circuits' 70s Ovedrive is its black cover. Perfection in every detail leads us to paint and erase each one until we find a perfect and durable finish. But last weekend something changed, we just weren't able to achieve a uniform finish. After several sessions of painting and erasing, we stopped and analyzed...

What could be going on? This time we learned that you can't paint lids in the middle of a heat wave.

70's Overdrive enters the studio.

Last week we attended the recording sessions of 7th studio album at in Madrid.

We had the pleasure of sharing good times, chatting about overdrives, guitars, amps and the heat of Madrid with , sound engineer, and .latorre, guitarist of and producer of this album.

The 70s has been an active part of the recording of some of the guitars Juanma and Beni so we are counting the days until the release.
