Exciting News
We're thrilled to announce that Wass Electromechanical Works PLC has won the government’s e-procurement bid for the design and construction of modern fish farming ponds at Gambella University. This project marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable aquaculture and integrated farming practices in Ethiopia.
This initiative is more than just fish farming—it is a comprehensive agricultural project integrating poultry farming and vegetable cultivation. The system is designed to maximize resource efficiency, where:
✅ Water from the fish ponds will be used for vegetable farming.
✅ The vegetables will serve as feed for poultry.
✅ Poultry waste will be used as food for fish and as fertilizer for the vegetables.
During a discussion with the university’s management and technical committee, we shared insights from international and national fish farming experiences. Gambella University’s President, Dr. Diriba Iticha, emphasized that this project will not only serve as a research and teaching hub but will also generate income and create job opportunities for the youth.
Gambella Region is rich in natural resources, and this project has the potential to contribute to Ethiopia’s food security. Moreover, it aims to support both local and international markets through large-scale fish production and export opportunities.
At Wass Electromechanical Works PLC, we are committed to delivering this high-impact project with the utmost quality and within the stipulated time frame. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this transformative journey!
