I came to France to create, but I’ve spent much of my time learning how to slow down, notice, and trust myself.

People have been asking what I’ve been working on here in France as an Artist in Residency at

The short answer is: Paintings.

But the longer answer is that I’ve been working on myself, too.

I’ve been creating a new series, experimenting with ways of bringing more recognizable forms into my abstract work. Subjects that might help communicate a feeling or tell a deeper story. I’ve been filling sketchbooks, writing songs, taking photographs, and spending so much time simply paying attention to what I’m drawn to and wondering why.

What has surprised me most is how much of this residency hasn’t looked like making art at all.

It has looked like slow mornings.

Long conversations with other artists.

Wandering through magnificent villages with no agenda.

Sitting by rivers.

Reading.

Thinking.

Processing.

Listening.

At home, I often feel pressure to be productive. Here, I’ve been learning that creating isn’t just about producing work. It’s about exploring, noticing, learning, resting, and receiving.

Those things are not separate from the work.

They are the work.

France has also given me something I wasn’t expecting: confidence.

And perhaps the most valuable thing I’ve learned here is that slowing down, noticing, and allowing space for curiosity is more important than the outcome itself.

A carload of us from made our way to Mont-Saint-Michel this week.

When it first came into view, tears filled my eyes. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Rising out of the tidal flats like something from a storybook, Mont-Saint-Michel has been drawing pilgrims, artists, and dreamers for over a thousand years. According to legend, the site began in 708 when the Archangel Michael appeared to a bishop in a dream and instructed him to build a sanctuary on the rocky island. Over the centuries it grew into the magnificent abbey that crowns the mount today.

I took the long way in, wandering through the sheep fields, stopping along the way to take it all in. I talked to a few sheep, video-called my husband, and cried because the view felt so impossibly beautiful.

Slowly.
No rush.
Just taking it all in.

There are places that photograph beautifully.
And then there are places that somehow feel even more extraordinary in person.
This was one of those places. There was much to see and be inspired by.

Has anyone else visited Mont-Saint-Michel?

If you ever find yourself in Normandy, I can’t recommend this ancient wonder enough

The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind.

Just before heading to France, I had the opportunity to participate in the Oxford Studio Tour for the very first time.

It was such a meaningful weekend.

I loved meeting so many of you, hearing your stories, and listening to what pieces drew you in and why. There’s something incredibly special about watching people connect with work that was tucked away in my studio. It was also pretty special to see it all displayed together for the first time - like looking back over an old visual journal full of memories.

And somehow, in the middle of all of that, some of these pieces found new homes too.

To the new collectors who welcomed my work into your spaces — thank you. Truly.

It’s such an honour to know these paintings are bringing hope, light, and joy into your homes.

This season has stretched me in beautiful ways, and I’m so grateful for every conversation, encouragement, and connection along the way.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning ♡

A little sneak peek of a new piece I’ll be bringing with me to the Oxford Studio Tour.

This one is called We All Used To Know, inspired by the song Tell Me That One Song by

It feels light, playful, layered, and full of movement. Soft aqua, turquoise, lavender, blush dance across the canvas and little bursts of brighter colour peek around corners. Like hope does. It’s hard to capture all the texture and detail in a photo, but this is one of those pieces that invites you to come closer.

As I was creating it, I found myself reflecting on the way we often grow away from our inner child as we get older. The part of us that used to play freely. Wonder easily. Create without overthinking. The part of us that is still there, quietly longing to be remembered.

This piece feels like a gentle call back to that place.

I’m so looking forward to sharing this work in person at the Oxford Studio Tour, where I’ll be showing alongside my childhood friend .art at her family farm. Wendy and I have known each other since kindergarten, so this feels especially meaningful.

Yesterday, I shared about my upcoming residency in France.

And I keep coming back to this work. This series. It’s what led me there.

The How Series began as a question.

How do we hold onto light when things feel uncertain? How do we keep going when we don’t have clear answers?

These pieces were never about perfection.
They were about getting real with the reality that life keeps on going on the outside when you feel like it’s stopped on the inside.

It’s about that tension. Learning to let light exist alongside darkness.

And now, as I prepare for France and the Oxford Studio Tour in May, I can feel that same question expanding.

On larger canvases.
With more freedom.
With more trust.

Some of the original works are available now, and new pieces will be released at the Oxford Studio Tour May 2–3 where I’ll be sharing space with .art and her beautiful works.

Thank you for being part of this — for seeing the work, for feeling it, for supporting it.

It means so much.
