ProComGaming

ProComGaming PCG provides many services to Publishers to improve player participation in their games. We also publish our own games.

ProComGaming has now evolved in to a much wider spectrum and will work towards Publishing and eventually developing it’s own games. Alongside this we will become involved in supporting new Developers, Graphic Artists and others who are in some study towards entering the gaming industry. We will assist them in actually getting their work out there for the world to see. We will also still offer cont

ract services for, QA, Localisation, Translation, GM/Forum Moderation and player support. ProComGaming Contracts will also work alongside other gaming publishers to build their communities in an innovative way. We promote community involvement while training them to do their jobs for which most publishers would have to pay employees. It has taken us years to perfect our actively adaptive system. The publisher also benefits because the programs offered help build both community size and involvement while increasing retention rates. Ultimately though, the gamers gain the most because they get to be heard once more and to be involved in the game that they are so passionate about. There are more plans in our future which we will update you on in time.

Mentor Program

This Program is split in to two sections. Firstly Assistants: they hang out in main lobbies, cities, worlds etc depending on the game. They are volunteers from the game who are willing to do shifts where they are there to simply answer other players' questions. This helps a lot with retention rates as new players get help and make friends early in the game. This has been proven in our past work. We also have mentors who spend time actually playing with the new players and helping them out. These are carefully chosen players who have shown themselves either through being noticed helping new players by GMs or also through them being known through the Tester Program. There is much more to the Program than this, so please feel free to contact us for further information.

It's time for another part in our A-Z of QA series!

X is for Xenolith. A xenolith is a rock that does not belong, just like bugs and exploits in a game. It's vital that these issues are removed as quickly and as efficiently as possible so the game can be enjoyed as it was originally intended.

PCG's ethos of putting the players first includes bug and exploit testing too - a buggy game is not one that makes its players happy!

Our Tester Program is unique due to the amount of trust we put in to the players who volunteer to work with us. They go through an application process and then get assigned to one of two groups, Core Tester and Tester. Core members do get more access than testers, but this is after a trusting relationship is established through trust tests. The QA team working with the publisher would then work directly with the Core and Testers to get reports and to perform testing. Stress testing is much easier when there is an organised Program as is the reporting process. At times we have worked with over 250 Testers and had a huge success with the Program both with players and Publishers alike!

Where?

It's time for another post from the A-Z of QA series!

The word for W is Where. When reporting bugs, it's always important to list where in the game the bug occurs. It's also important to note where any related objects are at the time of the bug. It's vital that the coders are able to find the code causing the problem, so we include as much information as possible to make their job easier.

PCG's QA Team is always keen to give as much detail as possible in order to get bugs fixed and resolved!

As promised we are revealing our programs that have proved to be really successful with the Publishers and Communities that we have worked with in the past. The programs are as follows; Public Tester Program, Public Assistance/Mentor Program, District Attorney's Program, Clan/Guildleadership Committee, Clan/Guild Warfare Committee, Community Forum Moderator Team and Community Outreach Program. In the coming weeks we will elaborate more...

We at PCG are curious and inquisitive, be it how are magic tricks done, or how exploits work. Several members of our team really excel at finding them, re-creating them from videos or text descriptions!

Time for another installment of the A-Z of QA!

V is for Verification. When we test a bug, it's not good enough for one person to have experienced it. It's good practice to have others attempt to recreate it for several reasons - to find out if it's limited to one specific type of device, to find out if it's only affecting a certain combination of class and character type and most importantly...to get as much detail about the bug as possible!

PCG's team works together when testing bugs so that when one is found, it is immediately confirmed and the report can be written and sent to be fixed swiftly. The team doesn't work 9 to 5, instead they're here at all hours of the day and night to make sure that the game is always being tested and refined!

We all hate bugs of every kind - the type with legs and the type that ruins a gaming experience. Our QA Teams are (self) certified digital exterminators. They take the bugs they find, report them and make sure they get squished into oblivion, sometimes even further when they channel Chuck Norris while working. They are incredibly proud of their work and how it affects the players of the games we work with.

It's Saturday again! Great - it's time for another post in our A-Z of QA.

Today's word is Undefined. While testing, we can sometimes come across an error code that uses the word "undefined". This word is both infuriating and infatuating to our team. They like to know how everything works, so when they see the word "undefined", they immediately want to investigate more. The information comes in when they don't have their normal clues to where the problem lies - our team will quite literally test everything again to try and find the cause!

Having such a dedicated team is one of PCG's QA Team's real strengths. Without their dedication, the games we work with wouldn't be examined for bugs half as thoroughly and the end result wouldn't be as good. While it might take a little bit longer, the final result is certainly worth the wait!

Time for another installment of the A-Z of QA!

T is for Tester. A QA Department isn't really a department without at least a few testers on the team! The testers are the people who are responsible for looking for bugs and exploits and reporting them. Their work can be both repetitive and different each day depending on the tasks they have to complete. While some testing is done using machines, no machine has passed the Turing Test and proven that it can think like a human. That's where our testers come in. They need to think of new things to test that most people wouldn't even consider in a game. Are they underwater? How about trying to use their flying mount? Are they soaring through the air on a flying mount...that seems like the perfect spot to do some fishing!

PCG's QA Team is made up of dedicated and passionate testers who all share the same ethos. If they see a bug, it needs to be reported and fixed. To our team, it doesn't matter how minor the bug is, it's vital that immersion is maintained through the entire game!
