Matt is currently reading Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake, in Merlin’s own words, the book explores “how fungi shape our worlds, and change our minds”.

But 𝗪𝗛𝗬 should a start-up founder bother reading a book about mushrooms?

As well as an amazing look into the past, present and future of mycology, the book highlights the massive potential for fungi to be a huge help to our planet (while also generating a lot of money for some clever folks).

💰Entrepreneurs like Stamets have created million dollar companies selling medicinal mushroom blends benefitting both brain and body.

☢️Fungi can be trained to feed on pollutants like cigarette butts, petrochemicals, glyphosate and even nuclear waste, removing harmful substances from the environment.

🌳Mycelium networks keep our forests alive and enrich our soil. These same fungi could help in our fight to save fertile soil for agriculture across the planet.

The future of Myco-trepreneurship is truly in its infancy, and seeing the emergence of more start-ups employing the power of fungi will be extremely exciting.

Helping regenerate our nerve cells, cleaning up toxic waste and pollution, regenerating our rapidly disappearing topsoil, all of these things and more, yet to be discovered, will bring a great benefit to people, the world and economies at large.

This week we kick off with a 📖 recommendation from Mentor Lang. He’s currently reading 𝑷𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝑨𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 by Oren Klaff.

Klaff offers a ground-breaking approach to pitching ideas, leveraging neuroscience and psychology to captivate audiences and close deals effectively.

An understanding of human psychology is paramount to being an effective salesperson, orator, and communicator in general. We’d recommend this book to any entrepreneur who wants to become better at conveying their ideas. As we’ve seen, a bad idea, pitched well, can succeed far beyond a good idea, pitched badly. Of course at Vision Vault, we want to encourage good ideas, and even better pitches.
