There's something so satisfying about holding a physical thing you've made. Like, actually holding it in your hands 🖤

I come from a gifting and packaging world, so for me illustration has always been about the end object - the thing that gets pulled out of a box, turned over, kept. That's the bit that gets me all excited.

The Walrus playing cards were that moment for this project. The illustration style we'd built for the rebrand had so much personality in it - so we took it further. A full deck, intricate suits, a joker I'm pretty damn proud of, and oof - that iridescent foil on black packaging 😍 It felt special to work on.

These were made for the Walrus community - a piece made just for them, something to hold onto. That's definitely my favourite kind of brief 🃏

This was such a lovely project to work on - getting to develop my character work and building out larger scenes felt really satisfying.

Monty went through a few renditions before he felt right, and Oscar is based on Headland’s very own in-house Springer Spaniel 🐾

I also loved working in monoline with a little jitter brush detail - gives everything a slightly hand-crafted feel without losing the clean lines.

Meet Walrus 💙

This project was about more than a new look - it was about building a character that could actually work across a whole brand system. Ownable, consistent, and flexible enough to go from product UI to Telegram stickers to 3D.

Working closely with Creative Director David Robinson at Vehicle Studio, we started with silhouette and proportion, built the character from simple geometric shapes, and developed a full illustration system to sit alongside him.

One of those projects that reminded me exactly why I love this work 🩵

As it’s been a while - here’s a reminder of what I make.

Some of my recent projects, which I’ve absolutely loved working on. Great briefs, great collaborations, and exactly the kind of work I want more of. Blending illustration and design is what I do best - I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else.

Recent collaborations with David Robinson at Vehicle Studio (Walrus & Headland) and (Crocodile Creek).

Here’s some recent work👇

So. The bigger hello I promised.

The short version: I’ve been head down working on some really good projects, life has been full and loud and busy, and Instagram has been the thing that kept falling off the list.

The longer version: I got to a point where I was genuinely worried about where work was coming from. So I did something about it - rebuilt my website, backed myself, and got my head down. The work came. Really good work.

I didn’t really miss posting, if I’m honest. But I did miss keeping up with people - seeing what everyone’s been making.

I miss that 2016 Instagram feeling. The version where people connected with each other. I don’t know if that exists anymore, but I want to try and find it again 💛

So this is me, showing back up. With a lot of new work to share, some honest process stuff, and probably some sketchbook nonsense in between.
