While in the UK last weekend, the Garrett team received permission to search a woman’s private property and help recover a valuable necklace she had lost in her garden.

After she showed him where to look, Henry grabbed his Vortex and began searching. Just 30 minutes later, he uncovered the beautiful silver necklace and returned it to its delighted owner in excellent condition! 🙌

Depth or target separation : which should you prioritise?

It all depends on where you detect.

A smaller searchcoil offers excellent target separation, making it easier to pick out valuable finds in iron-infested or heavily littered ground.

A larger searchcoil covers more ground with every sweep and can detect larger or deeper targets more effectively. However, it can be less precise in areas with lots of nearby targets.

Choosing the right searchcoil is all about matching your equipment to your hunting conditions. Which one do you use most often?

Last weekend in England, Sub Détection took part in Big Dig 2026 equipped with his Garrett Vortex VX9.

After hours of detecting and plenty of signals, he was delighted to unearth several coins and a variety of historical artefacts. A fantastic collection of finds from a weekend dedicated to metal detecting and sharing the experience with fellow enthusiasts.

A HUGE rifle gr***de UNEARTHED 🤯😱

While Steve was in the Netherlands, he uncovered a German relic from the Second World War with the Vortex. He was detecting on private land with permission when he found a Gewehr-Sprenggranate, a highly explosive rifle gr***de developed in Germany and used by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War!

An incredible find, remarkably well preserved despite being buried deep underground 👏

Banana Peel Toss Leads to Roadside Ring Recovery 🍌💍

Xavier, aka Sub Detection on YouTube, received a phone call from a woman asking for help after she lost her 23-gram white-gold diamond ring. While her husband was driving, he asked her to throw a banana peel out of the car window. By accident, her ring went out with it!

They searched everywhere but couldn’t find it, so Xavier headed out with his VX9 to help. After around 30 minutes of searching, he got the signal we were all hoping for and found the ring!

He said: “Being able to return it to its owner was the real treasure. Moments like this are exactly why I love this hobby.”
