Second office pc set up for a regular customer

Upgraded their main office pc with 16GB ram and an SSD not long ago. They wanted a second pc in the office so each employee had their own pc.

Fitted a 500GB SSD and 16GB ram. Then imaged Windows from the first PC so it had everything the main pc had. All working spot on 👌🏻

Had a message from a regular customer

Upgraded their office pc with 16GB ram earlier in the year. They wanted the HDD swapped with an SSD further down the line. Completed this for them today by imaging their original drive onto this Samsung SSD they provided.

All working as it should. Will be back very soon to install them a second office PC.

Built this custom built PC for her a few months ago. But the memory card reader recently decided to stop working.

Popped by and changed it for a replacement I had spare. Tested it and it’s now working spot on.

It’s that time of the year again 👀

‼️ Attention anyone buying second hand Apple or Android devices for loved ones this Christmas‼️🎄

Few helpful tips to avoid getting ripped off like this customer did with this iPad:

- Make sure the seller has removed their iCloud / Google account before you purchase it. If in doubt, set the device up before buying and if it asks for login information for the last account used, ask the seller to log in so they can then remove it. If they don’t know it, walk away. You’ll be buying a paperweight.

- Check the model number of the device you’re looking to buy; a lot of older models are no longer supported by Apple / Google so you can’t install apps on them any more or even sign in with your Apple / Google ID

- Check the functionality of the device; Check all buttons, the screen, the camera, the speakers, the microphone and the charger port (make sure it charges). Also if you’re looking at an Apple device, check the battery health in the settings.

- Check places like eBay or CEX for prices. See what they’ve sold for on eBay or what CEX will offer to buy it from you (don’t look at what they sell it for as they’ll have a profit margin included on that price).

- Most importantly, don’t fall for scams from people on platforms like FB Marketplace or Gumtree asking for you to send the money and they’ll post the item. Always go to see it in person and do all your checks before giving them the cash or transferring it with PayPal / bank transfer

Had a call from the owner of this Samsung SSD

He said the SSD was almost out of space. Taken him 6 years to fill it. Asked if I could image it onto a 500GB M.2 SSD for him (as he didn’t want to reinstall windows).

Put the new SSD into my caddy. Plugged the old SSD in with my adapter cable. Windows has now been imaged onto the new SSD

Had a message from the owner of this Acer laptop

Customer said it was randomly blue screen and now it won’t boot up

Removed the SSD, tested it and found no problems. Ran the Windows startup repair from my USB stick and it now boots up. Ran diagnostics on the laptop and couldn’t find any hardware faults. Cleaned windows up and updated all drivers, seems to be happy now 😁

Have you heard about windows 10 becoming EOL (and of life)?

Back in October Microsoft stopped updates and support for windows 10 after 10 years 😮 (can’t believe it’s been that long)

Some people may choose to stick to 10 instead of changing to windows 11. If you’re one of those people, make sure you have a good anti virus program in place. It’ll keep you safe for the short term.

If you’re someone who only really uses your laptop/computer for just writing letters and doesn’t go on the internet with it, you’ll be fine. There’s no need to upgrade or buy a new computer.

If you do however want to upgrade to Windows 11, I offer this as a service.

Clean install (no data recovery) - £50
Data recovery + clean install - £80
