Nytech Audio Phonostages are featured in the latest Audio T Cardiff Blog. On the testing bench today is this FMT2 Tuner, part of the high end Ion Nexus system. This is the only one we have ever seen and fixing it was quite a challenge!

Drum roll please! The CDP132, our long awaited successor to the CDP122 (our entry level phono stage) is now available to purchase.

It has a completely redesigned MM section, featuring a passive RIAA dual stage filter with no feedback using JFets specifically designed for low level, low noise analogue signal handling and is compatible with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges.

The exterior of the unit has a completely new look with a 4mm extruded aluminium casing, a copper screened rear panel and the most noticeable difference - a unique "artificial stone" front panel, which results in an incredibly strong robust unit that should give the music lover many years of faithful service.

The CDP132 retails at £399 and is available now from Audio T Cardiff and will be available on our online shop next week. If you need more info just give us a call or send us an email!

Here's a view of a CTA252 XD11 you might not have seen before. One of the guy's downstairs just bought a heat sensitive camera attachment for his phone and brought it in for us to have a look at. Don't be alarmed at the bright spots, this CTA is not overheating, it's just that the camera is very sensitive to small changes in temperature, which makes it quite a useful diagnostic tool. It was very useful as it helped us identify an overheating transistor on another piece of kit that's been driving us mad as it's been on the work bench for several weeks!

This is one of two pairs of Ion Nexus crossover boards and is the Nytech equivalent of rocking horse poo! They are so rare we asked the owner to send them in so we could have a look as we've never seen them before! The owner actually wants to sell them so if anyone out there is interested send us an email to [email protected] and we can pass on your details.

Bit of light reading with my afternoon tea. Fifty two years ago (yes look at the date on the magazine!) when there was no social media, this is what aspiring engineers were reading! It taught me a lot about electronics, but I soon learned it did not attract the ladies, as indicated on the cover. A Ford XR2i was a far better attraction than an Aquarium thermostat!

Although this magazine was obviously aimed at young men, when I worked at Nytech back in the eighties it was women that outnumbered the men when it came to building amplifiers.
