Our latest customer case study really highlights the diversity, scope and scale of the complex industrial UV systems that we regularly design, manufacture and install. Riverside Flooring primarily manufactures vinyl flooring in roll form at 4-metres wide, for the commercial market and also for residential use. When the time came to replace an ageing UV curing system at the company’s Teesside manufacturing plant, the team at Riverside made a bold decision to switch to a new UV supplier... GEW.

There are very few parts of the world where GEW does not have UV systems in operation, and an established regional distributor to support them. As a result, our sales managers regularly travel the globe to visit our end users, ensuring a level of customer support that goes beyond the norm. Our Director of International Sales, Marcus Greenbrook, is currently on tour in Southeast Asia, accompanied by Jane Tan of Press Systems Group, GEW’s exclusive distributor for the region.

On a recent customer visit at PT Aneka Rupa Tera (ART) in Sidoarjo, East Java, they recreated a photo that was originally taken in 2016. ART has a GEW UV system that has now run for over 32,000 hours on a Comco press, and the company has since had GEW UV LED and ArcLED systems retrofitted on several machines.

A further development is that Tomy Suhartojo, pictured with Marcus and Jane in 2016, has now been appointed General Manager of Press Systems Indonesia, a subsidiary of PSG that has recently been established to offer excellent sales and service support in the country, with stock of spare parts and an in-house repair centre for UV cassettes and power supplies. The countdown is on for LOUPE Americas… GEW’s presence this year is all about innovation and new technologies. We will introduce a major product innovation at LOUPE, and alongside this we will highlight our new Air Blast Cooler and our DoseGuard system.

DoseGuard delivers ultimate control of the UV curing process, through inline UV monitoring and automatic UV dose control. It consists of a scanning optic mounted underneath each of the lampheads on a UV system, to continuously measure the UV light that reaches the substrate, and will alert if the level of UV output delivered to the substrate changes during production, for any reason.

DoseGuard also greatly improves the UV curing process by automatically adjusting the power of the UV lamps to maintain a target UV dose, independent of speed or UV lamp condition. This ensures that product is cured to exactly the correct level, every time.

DoseGuard is also available in the form of an offline laboratory unit, which offers a fast, simple and accurate method to measure the UV output of any GEW UV Arc or LED cassette across its entire width under standard conditions. It allows rapid analysis of UV cassettes from any GEW UV system manufactured since the year 2000.
