One of my intentions for this year is to make painting a more frequently weekly practice. So with tonight being the first full moon of 2026 it seemed like a good excuse to paint a cute lunar moth and lady luna herself.

Couple of hours spent on these so far, probably another of hour of details to go to wrap them up.

Enjoying this colour palette and there is something enjoyable about painting two subjects/pieces at ones in similar palettes.

Ending the year with some happy mushy paintings. These will take up some empty wall space in our kitchen. But I wonder if folks would be interested in prints of these? Let me know, I’m thinking about the kind of art I’d like to feature in my shop next year. 💖🍄🍄‍🟫

This one me came together well. Few days rest and a fresh perspective helped a lot. 😂

- Day 4 - Apothecary Edition - Passion Potion.

Today is a bit of a flop, but it looks alright beside the lineup so far. Brain is over-tired and wasn’t quite able to filter what wasn’t working and make adjustments.

Perhaps with fresh eyes tomorrow I’ll see it with fresh perspective. But I turned up and committed time to it even when a cozy bath seemed like a better prospect. 😂

- Apothecary Series - Minor HP Potion.

Well I had a lot of fun with this one, feel like it sank into a slightly more stylised interpretation unintentionally but I kind of like it!

Spread is starting to looking pretty cute as well!

- Apothecary Edition - Orange Tonic.

Oft this was tricky. Attempted wet in wet technique to start and definitely went off track early. Still mileage is mileage, and at least my palette stayed a bit tidier. 🤣

- Apothecary Edition - Day 1 done.

Surprisingly harder than I was expecting! I chose this subject series to challenge myself to paint glass in all its facets. And practice colour matching.

I have 14 objects/colours in the round. So the aim is to revisit the same for a second time in the later half of the month. So it’ll be interesting to see what I learn and how I implement it next time around.

Pleased with how this piece wrapped up. Had a lot of fun exploring using Gouache on wood like this. And the dark fantasy life study subject matter is something I know really want to play with more.

Anyway that’s 1/5 kitchen renovation decor painting projects done. 💪

A long 10 mile walk along Arbroath cliffs to Auchmithie and back. Weather and views were stunning. 🤩
