⚠️ SCAM ALERT – Fake Mobile Provider Return Scam Hitting the UK ⚠️
There’s a dangerous new scam going around in the UK – and it’s catching people off guard. Here’s how it works and how to protect yourself:
1. The Setup – Social Engineering:
Scammers will call pretending to be your mobile provider, they use this authority bias to gather information about your account. They will then either contact your provider and use this info to pretend to be your, or, they will access your online account.
2. Placing the Order:
Once they’ve got access, they order expensive phones or devices to be delivered to your address – all in your name.
3. The Scam Call:
After the phones arrive, the scammer calls you, pretending to be from your mobile provider. They say there’s been a mistake, the wrong devices were sent, or there’s been fraudulent activity – and they need the phones returned urgently.
4. The Catch:
They give you a return address – but it’s not the mobile provider’s. It’s the scammer’s address. You end up sending the phones directly to the fraudster, thinking you’re doing the right thing.
The Result?
You’re left out of pocket, potentially liable for the cost, and with no idea anything was wrong until it’s too late.

How to Stay Safe:
• If you’re contacted about returning devices you didn’t order, hang up and call your provider back on their official number.
• Never send devices to an address you haven’t personally verified with your provider.
• Use strong, unique passwords and security questions for your account.
• Be cautious with your personal info online – scammers use small details to build trust.
Scams like this are getting more convincing – don’t get caught out. Share this with family and friends to keep them protected too.
