We’re lucky to work with some brilliant clients who genuinely care about getting hiring right.

The best partnerships happen when companies are open to doing things differently, focusing on candidate experience, and showcasing the people and culture behind the role not just the job spec.

That’s exactly why we built Tech Pair. Human-first recruitment simply works 👏

A proud milestone for Tech Pair. 💙💚

Following a formal RFI/RFP process that began towards the end of last year, Tech Pair has been successfully added to the UK Preferred Supplier List of a global financial services technology organisation for contingent worker supply.

For a business that is still less than a year old, this is a huge moment.

It’s also a strong validation of the model Tech Pair was built around:

Founder-led delivery.
Technology & Change expertise.
Quality over volume.
Compliance and contractor care.
Human recruitment, delivered properly.

We’re looking forward to supporting future contingent worker requirements across areas including Programme Delivery, Business Analysis, Change, Architecture, Software Engineering, Data, Cloud, DevOps, QA and Product.

Thank you to everyone involved in the process for the detail, care and belief that has gone into building Tech Pair from day one.

We’re proud of this step forward and even more excited about what comes next.

Recruitment is changing. We keep it human.

𝐀𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐕𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭.
𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫.

That’s why we’re keeping these two Glasgow tech searches human.

We’re speaking with:
🔹 Drupal Developers
🔹 DevOps Engineers

Two exclusive, permanent roles with Tech Pair.

Hybrid in central Glasgow: Wednesday + Thursday in the office, within a 10-minute walk of Queen Street and Central.

What makes these roles different?

You won’t be applying blind.

We’ve recorded a hiring-manager video covering:
• the culture
• the management style
• what the first 6–12 months look like
• the kind of person who’ll thrive

And on our side, Stuart Alexander and Michael Phair are doing this properly:
real conversations, hiring-manager-led questions and every CV reviewed by human eyes not only a keyword score.

If you’re a Drupal Developer or DevOps Engineer in or around Glasgow message us a message with “Drupal” or “DevOps” and I’ll we'd be happy to discuss the positions with you.

And if you’re hiring in tech this year and tired of sorting through hundreds of CVs that all look “perfect” this is exactly where Tech Pair can help.

“One of the tech leads in my team has by his own admission barely written a line of code in 4 months.”

That stopped us in our tracks when Allan Mayberry said it on the Tech Paired podcast.

Not because engineering is dying.

But because software engineering is changing faster than most people realise.

The best engineers today aren’t just writing code anymore.

They’re orchestrating systems.

Managing AI agents.

Designing architecture.

Solving problems.

Reviewing outputs.

Thinking commercially.

The actual typing of code is becoming a smaller part of the job.

And that has huge implications for the market over the next 12–24 months.

We’re likely heading toward:
→ Smaller engineering teams
→ Fewer “pure coding” roles
→ Less demand for commodity development
→ More demand for AI-native engineers who can think systemically

The uncomfortable truth?

AI probably won’t replace great software engineers.

But great software engineers using AI will replace average ones.

The biggest concern for me is what happens to the traditional junior developer pathway.

For years, grads learned through:
- bug fixes
- small features
- repetitive implementation work

AI now does much of that instantly.

So the value is shifting from: “I can code”

to: “I can solve problems, design systems and leverage AI effectively.”

This feels like one of those moments we’ll look back on as a genuine turning point in the industry.

Curious where others stand on this.

Are we overestimating the shift?

Or underestimating how quickly this changes engineering teams forever?

🤖 “Everyone’s talking about AI… but very few teams are actually using it well.”

In Episode #7 of the Tech Paired Podcast, Allan Mayberry, Senior Director of Engineering at Planet DDS, shares what AI adoption actually looks like inside a modern engineering organisation.

Not the LinkedIn hype.
Not the “AI will replace developers tomorrow” headlines.

The reality.

Allan explains how teams are evolving from using AI as simple autocomplete tools into something far more powerful agent-based engineering, AI-assisted workflows, rapid prototyping, automated investigation, and system orchestration.

💬 “What was good today might be old news tomorrow.”

One of the most interesting takeaways from this conversation was how quickly engineering workflows are changing. Six months ago, most teams were experimenting. Today, some engineers are orchestrating entire delivery flows with tools like Claude Code and Copilot.

We discuss:
⚡ AI-assisted engineering in real teams
⚡ Moving beyond autocomplete coding
⚡ How developers are using Claude day-to-day
⚡ Why AI tooling changes every few months
⚡ The rise of agent-based workflows
⚡ Why leadership teams need hands-on experimentation
⚡ How engineering roles are evolving in real time

This episode is packed with practical insights for engineering leaders, founders, product teams, and anyone trying to understand what software development looks like in an AI-first world.

🚨 “We’re entering a completely new security landscape.”

In Episode #7 of the Tech Paired Podcast, Allan Mayberry (Senior Director of Engineering at Planet DDS) breaks down one of the biggest risks emerging in the AI era: security.

From prompt injection attacks and AI-generated vulnerabilities to developers unknowingly exposing company data through personal AI accounts, Allan explains why AI adoption without governance could become a major problem for businesses of every size.

💬 “You thought you were just formatting a spreadsheet nicely… and suddenly you’ve sold your company’s secrets to competitors.”

We discuss:
⚠️ Prompt injection risks
⚠️ AI-generated security vulnerabilities
⚠️ Shadow AI inside organisations
⚠️ Why governance matters more than ever
⚠️ The risks of employees using personal ChatGPT accounts
⚠️ Vercel, GitHub repos & supply chain vulnerabilities
⚠️ Why small businesses may be more exposed than they realise

This wasn’t fearmongering — it was a practical conversation about what engineering leaders need to pay attention to right now as AI adoption accelerates.

What does AI-first engineering actually look like now as a software developer?

🎙️ AI-First Engineering, Team Design & The Future of Software Development
with Allan Mayberry, Senior Director of Engineering at Planet DDS

In this episode of Tech Paired, Stuart Alexander and Michael Phair sit down with Allan Mayberry to explore how AI is reshaping:

⚡ Software development
⚡ Engineering leadership
⚡ Team design
⚡ Hiring
⚡ Security
⚡ The future of technical careers

Allan leads a 100+ person engineering organisation and is actively driving AI-first development practices across teams using tools like Claude and Copilot.

We discuss:
• Why AI should be treated more like a co-pilot than an autopilot
• Engineers becoming orchestrators, not just coders
• Why the fundamentals of software engineering still matter
• Pod-based team structures and reducing context switching
• Governance, security, compliance and AI risk
• Prompt injection, vendor risk and deepfake candidates
• What engineering leaders should actually be doing right now

One of the biggest themes throughout the episode:

AI changes how software gets built but human judgement, leadership and accountability matter more than ever.

This is a practical, honest conversation for engineering leaders, software developers, founders, product leaders, and anyone trying to understand where software development is heading next.
