I'm not sure this is something that will ever make the cut in the Sega Edition of the PCB, it was a very quick hack job to get it running and would need work on gear selection due to the way the original Taito controls use two switches, one each for High & Low gears, but does show potential of the hardware perhaps being used in other types of cabs.

Calling all After Burner and Thunder Blade owners.

Please could you take a photo of the sticker by the throttle lever. I’ve now seen two cabs with fast and slow in the opposite positions. This is not something I can easily cater for in an automated way. It’s a simple fix with a keyboard connected to the Raspberry Pi.

Keen to know which version is more popular. Fast at the top or bottom of the lever?

More work In progress, Super Monaco Grand Prix playing in my Power Drift cab. The gear controls are not suitable for play in Power Drift / Out Run style cabs so it was only usable in auto mode.

There's potential to hack the MAME driver so gears can work with the hi/lo shifter, or this could be used with a cabinet adapter in a SMGP cab.

A little Work In Progress testing tonight. Galaxy Force II running on SmartyPi, it should work well in After Burner and Thunder Blade style cabs. Needs thorough testing, but it should be available to play in the future.

Game order shown, Racing Hero -> Hang-On -> Super Hang-On -> Enduro Racer

We have a few minor control tweaks to fix, but hopefully you get the gist of how the games will play.

First test of the After Burner cabinet adapter. The cabs 'Lock On' lamp was blown so is shown not to work, control code is implemented and will be tested in the future.

Thanks to Dan for letting me into his home arcade so I could test the board.

Here's a video showing a test of of CannonBall running via SmartyPi, controlling the DLX motors and passing test mode. Its all work in progress and as I'm using a new microcontroller this means new control code, which is not without issue. It's a great start to having a fully playable option for the DLX Out Run cab.

This is a small USB powered PCB that plugs directly into the motor board connector of Out Run and all being well Space Harrier DLX cabinets. It enables control of the motor axis without the need for using a working game PCB. The PCB also shows when the internal limit switches are triggered.

This is just a little something to help with integration of CannonBall into the DLX cabinet, but may be useful for maintenance and testing of the motor components.

Here's something I tried a few months back as proof of concept, it's Sega's 1981 game Turbo running on the SmartyPi SE PCB. Work is required on the MAME driver to give the controls better compatibility with Out Run cabinet hardware, but as a proof of concept it works & plays ok.

New cabinet adapter complete and making its way to Australia for final testing. This will allow for the Hang-On Series of games that SmartyPi supports (Hang-On, Super, LE & Jr) to be played along with Racing Hero.

There was unused cab wiring in the handle bars, these have been hooked up to Supercharger and game switch controls.
