Thank you to Reach Food for sponsoring our Loch Ness Marathon and donated £300 to the cause.

Reach built their business on gourmet seafood for chefs who are hard to please — black cod, king crab, bluefin.

On 27 September, four of us are running 26.2 miles for The Fishermen's Mission: the charity that turns up when fishing goes wrong, with emergency help and welfare support for fishermen and their families.

A big thank you to CM Roach for donating £200 to our Loch Ness Marathon fundraiser for The Fishermen's Mission.

Four of us are running 26.2 miles on 27 September for the charity that shows up for fishing families when things go wrong. That's why we're doing this, and support like this is what gets us to the start line.

Think you know your seafood? Meet the Stone Bass 🐟👇

Also widely known as the Atlantic Wreckfish (Polyprion americanus), this deep-sea creature is packed with cool quirks:

🌊 Shipwreck Seekers: Adults live in deep ocean waters (down to 500m+) and love hanging out around rocky ledges, caves, and shipwrecks!

📦 Surfacing Youth: Young stone bass swim near the surface and shelter beneath floating debris- like crates, palm leaves, or ocean driftwood. 🐋 Absolute Giants: They grow up to 2 metres long and can weigh over 100 kg!

🍽️ Culinary Favourite: Chefs love stone bass for its firm, large white flakes, rich taste, and low-fat profile. Pan-searing in butter gives it a perfect, crispy finish!

(Note: In culinary markets, the name "stone bass" is also commonly used for farmed Meagre (Argyrosomus regius)!)
