Aspire Trust in association with Cut to the Chase Productions are proud to announce Treasured. Treasured is a unique, large scale, multimedia theatrical event experienced in the heart of Liverpool Cathedral, conceived and created by Cut to the Chase Productions artistic director Jen Heyes. From Monday 1 – Saturday 6 October the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral will be transformed into a living, breath
ing canvas of Titanic proportions. Jen Heyes has brought together a company of highly experienced creative collaborators to bring a production on an awesome and intimate scale inside the Cathedral space. Jen Heyes – The Creator of Treasured describes the event “Treasured will be delivered by highly skilled professional performers, with original live and recorded musical composition, never before witnessed film and aerial theatre. Treasured will be an experience that is truly unique, a theatrical and thought provoking spectacle. Based on the Titanic story it will not simply be a re-telling of the events leading up to the tragedy that cost the lives of so many innocent people but also invite audiences to consider who and what we treasure in our lives and why we treasure them”
Sir Giles Gilbert Scott designed Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral with the purpose of constructing a space that captured both the awesome and the intimate. As well as being the world’s largest Anglican and one of Europe’s most inspiring cathedrals, it is an iconic architectural landmark which houses a myriad of detail in every tiny carving and every corner. Gilbert Scott’s design was famously heralded as the ‘supreme art of enclosing space’ by Sir John Betjeman, who also called it “one of the great buildings of the world” - a building of such gigantic ‘great space’ dimensions that can also touch everyone who enters in a deeply personal way. Treasured follows on from the Cathedral’s long standing commitment to hosting innovative, contemporary performances. Eryl Parry - Director of Enterprise for Liverpool Anglican Cathedral said “We are really excited at the prospect of this production in the Cathedral! It’s such an awesome building, but will really come to life in a new way with such powerful performances planned – even from the walls and above our heads! We’re sure that they will be six nights that will live long in the memory and will forever touch everyone fortunate to get a ticket.”
Treasured is co produced by The Aspire Trust – a charity dedicated to transforming peoples’ life stories through creativity. Aspire Trusts Director Dr Nick Owen MBE said “We are delighted to be working with Jen Heyes and Cut to the Chase productions on what will be one of the ‘must-see’ events of the year. As well as this unique production, Treasured is composed of a range of community engagement, educational and international collaborations, the most recent being a collaboration with the Serbian arts organisation, Culture House in Obrenovac, Belgrade. Further projects and activities will be announced in due course.”
