Standing Room Only at Data Centre World!

A huge thank you to our fantastic panelists - Matt Salter, Niklas Lindqvist & Stefan Nilsson - for an insightful discussion yesterday at Data Centre World London! With a standing-room-only crowd, it was great to see just how much interest there is in AI-ready data centres and the challenges ahead. The event itself was buzzing—proof of how important these conversations are as our industry evolves.

Our discussion focused on three key themes:
🔹 The explosive growth in AI and its impact on power, cooling, and scalability.
🔹 The three cornerstones of data centre design – balancing performance, sustainability, and resilience.
🔹 Holistic design principles – ensuring AI infrastructure is efficient, scalable, and future-proof.

Last week, we were delighted to join staff and students of the Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering Apprenticeship Programme (TDNE) for the opening of the new, state-of-the-art Network Installation Outdoor Training Site at Technological University Dublin.

This new facility, developed by TU Dublin and industry partners, provides hands-on training in telecom network installation, including underground, optical fibre, and copper networks. This outdoor facility features a 120m underground network, telecom poles, and cabinets, enhancing apprenticeship and undergraduate programs with practical skills in modern telecom technologies.

Launched in 2019, the Apprenticeship Programme was developed by the University and industry experts with a shared vision for a connected Ireland, which requires a steady stream of skilled technicians with telecommunication and Data Network Engineering skills. Onnec are proud to partner with TDNE and TU Dublin to offer this apprenticeship, and the opening of this training site marks a new chapter in our apprenticeship programme's journey towards excellence and innovation.

🎁 'Tis the season for giving! A heartfelt appreciation to our Irish team members for their generous donations to the Simon Community charity. Onnec staff kindly donated a large volume of food supplies and confectionary, along with gloves, hats, underwear and toiletries.

We are incredibly proud of all our staff for donating so generously and helping to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Last week, Onnec's Mara Ervin, US Head of Sales and iMasons Regional Chair of US-East hosted an iM Women luncheon at DCD>Connect | Virginia.

The hot topic of the lunch was around the necessity of a holistic approach to meeting the demands of AI infrastructure. The exclusive lunch session brought together women from across the industry to discuss with their peers the challenges faced and opportunities ahead in a closed door environment.
